I towed an E-21 all through the CO mountains with an '18 Grand Cherokee with the base V-6 engine. Mine was the Trailhawk model. Same 6,200# rating. The owners manual said to use a WDH if the trailer weight was 5,000# or more. Since the loaded E-21 was less than that I didn't.
The car towed just fine over the steepest mountains. I wasn't the first person at the summit but I made it every time.
The limitation I ran into was the payload capacity. My tongue weight per the scale ran about 450#. Wife & I plus a big dog added another 300#. "Stuff" added another 200# or so. We ran close to the 1,050# payload capacity.
