I always keep a bottle of gas line antifreeze aka ban-ice, thermo-aide. It is just alcohol. If you keep the pitch wet for a few seconds it rubs right off. I actually never put in my gas.

If you really want the best wire use tinned copper wire that marine supply stores sell. I’m sure it will be more expensive but it will never corrode. Probably overkill for interior wiring

Even with self adjusting brakes you may at one time or another have to back off the self adjusters with an adjustment tool. Especially if you get a ridge on your drums and want to pack your bearings....
