The belts are the strips of reinforcing cord which circle around the outside of the tire, under the tread (not behind the sidewall). They keep the tread flat, so it looks like a modern tire, rather...

I still don't see it. The tread wear pattern is more wear on the outer edges of the tread, which would be the opposite of "ballooning", and suggests inadequate inflation (or if only on the outer...

I can't see it. The difference in tread wear is obvious (especially the outer tread block row), but I don't see any difference that might be called ballooning. I'm not saying it's not there, just...

Tire load ratings are standardized, so all ST tires of the same size and load range will have the same load capacity. The inflation pressure is linked to the load capacity: for the same load range,...

The higher-rated tire does have a stronger sidewall, but it doesn't help with load capacity unless the higher pressure is used. At the same pressure, they have the same load capacity.

The stronger...

As I hope most people realize by now, these tires don't have 8-ply construction (and don't need it). "Ply ratings" is an obsolete system of describing load range by comparison with antiquated tire...

I assume that the wheel offset is 3/8" more negative, compensating for all but 1/8" of the 1/2" of additional backspacing caused by the added 1" of wheel width.

The extra one inch of wheel width...

The load rating is only higher because the new tires are Load Range D, while the old ones were Load Range C; Carlisle makes Load Range D, too, but the trailer didn't have them (because it doesn't...

Ah, thanks... The schedule was clear: full bearing and brake service every second year (at an RV service centre) - that makes sense to me - and EZ-Lube grease flush on the alternate years. I...

It's ridiculously wasteful, but certainly not a huge expense. It's also entirely pointless, since there is no reason to flush the grease - assuming that you don't back your trailer down a boat ramp...

Yes, and with those cavities having to be filled, a grease change using EZ-Lube takes many times as much grease as just greasing the bearings. Most of the grease pumped into hubs with EZ-Lube just...

EZ-Lube is alway controversial in this forum. Use it if you want, but if your hub caps block access it's not a problem. You can even have a cap which blocks the hub but still use EZ-Lube, by removing...

No, the 205/75R15 size has been standard on all models for quite a few years; it was 205/75R14 before that, with the original single-axle 5.0 getting a larger size (I think 215/75R15) for a while.

While 16" trailer wheels for 5-bolt hubs are not common (and maybe not available at all), 6-bolt will work, in the 6-on-5.5" pattern.
