Escape Preregistration Not Possible In Texas?

Back in 2009, my experience in Travis County was similar to what Steve describes. We were able to get a 30 day temporary tag beforehand that got us back to TX. Since we didn't finance our trailer, we didn't have to deal with any added complications on that front. The VIN check and visual...

    Hitch slack eliminator

I recently purchased one of these too. Haven't gotten to try it out yet but the first test will be a trip to South Llano River State Park in two weeks. Glad to hear from a fellow escapee confirming that it works well.

    Rotochok

I use the stacking lego-type leveling blocks & was referring to instances where I have them stacked pyramid-style 3 levels high and, imo, there isn't enough space on the top block for a traditional chock to be used effectively. For the raised wheels, a chock that could go btw the tandem...

    Rotochok

Hi Michael & Debra. We still use & are very happy with our rotochoks. They are super simple & easy to use. The biggest benefit is the ability to chock our wheels when one side is raised on leveling blocks at an uneven campsite where a traditional chock won't work. For that purpose, only one...

Solar panels and 3M VHB tape

Ours was the 1st solar panel that Escape used the 3M vhb tape to mount it with back in Sept 2009. To date, we haven't experienced any issues with it adhering to the roof.

If You Could Design My new Trailer and Pick My Options......

From the 2nd roof top pic, it looks like the fridge is now vented via the top of the trailer as opposed to the side. Is that correct? If so, does anyone know when Escape started doing that. Also, what was the reason for the change - does it offer advantages over the prior location? Don -...

    Turtlenecks or Tanktops...Thanksgiving 2012

We'll be camping in the TX hill country on a friend's land near Wimberley. There are usually about 60 of us (not counting the dogs). Thur we'll be making home-made pizzas in the wood fired brick oven next to the fire pit that we built out there last year. The more traditional meal will be on...

    Hello I am new

We bought ours sight unseen too. We had not seen any model of Escape previously. The closest we came to that was watching a web video tour that JeffZ had posted when he was selling his 17B. We had never owned a trailer either. We read testimony of happy owners on the forum in its early days...

    hitch grease

Prior to every hitch up, I wipe off the hitch ball and the inside of the hitch coupler and then apply some white grease to the hitchball. I keep a small tube of it in the trailer and have a spray can of it at home. I've never tried applying grease to the wdh/stabilizer bars - although I might...

    A thought and a request....

Yep, I was just taking an evening sail to enjoy the Pacific sunset with a cold beer in hand (got the idea from a Corona tv commercial). I'm back home in central TX now that the sun's down... not to mention my beer was empty & I needed a refill! ;D Cool idea - I'm glad to see the map idea which...

Where in bed do you put your head?

We sleep with our heads on the passenger side & have our tv mount on the street side fridge wall. The tv mount is more out of the way on the fridge side. It also feels a little more open to me having my head on that side although I'm not sure why.

    Newbie questions

We use the wdh sold by Escape and tow with a Toyota 4Runner. When hitched up to the wdh, we can open the 4Runner's rear hatch without any problems for loading & unloading things out of the vehicle.

    Planned modifications for my 19'

We have a plastic hook rack that hangs on the bathroom door with the hooks hanging outside the bathroom. We also use suction cup plastic hooks on the exterior of the trailer under the awning to hang jackets, towels, swimsuits, hats, etc. It works particularly well for things that are bulky that...

Congrats on your new 19. It's great to see the Texas Escape #'s continue to grow.

    Escape 19' screen room instructions

I agree with the steps posted above. It only takes me approx 5 minutes to get it set up now but took a little bit longer the first couple of times. One hint regarding the side poles being a tight fit, put the point end in the awning first (as was suggested above). Angle the flat end of the...

    Question for families with kids!

It sounds like either size would work for you so it comes down to what your preferences ultimately are. We got our Escape when our kids were 2 & 4 yrs old. We were already considering the 17b but then heard news of the new 19 about to come out. Since our tow vehicle is rated for 5000 lbs we...

    Towing in 4 wheel drive?

On our return trip from Chilliwack in Sept/Oct 2009, we encountered early wintry conditions of cold & snow right when our path took us thru Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. Due to snow conditions, Yellowstone Park required vehicles to have chains or tires rated for mud/snow (M&S) as well as 4x4...

    Factory fresh 19' in production....

Congrats Jim. All your diligent planning has finally come to fruition and your new trailer looks great. More importantly, it'll camp great too.

    dog gone

Congrats Glen. Hopefully you & your better half will now have the time & opportunity to put some real miles on your trailer. Do I hear Nova Scotia calling? Or maybe it was the chorus of numerous states in the lower 48 that are located outside the Pacific Northwest? Happy adventures in retirement...

12V fan to combat global warming?

Speaking of hot weather, we hit 109F in Austin yesterday. It broke the record for hottest day in June in Austin since they began record keeping over 100 yrs ago. Not very camping friendly even with the a/c. We crack a window by our head with the MaxFan set to pull air out of the trailer to get...

Propane Tank Cover - White no more...

That gap looks about the perfect size for a cooler full of beer. Of course, you'd probably need a cooler full of beer on the back as well in order to keep your tongue weight balanced properly. ;D

    Purpose Of Solar Panels

Our solar panel is mounted to the roof with the 3M VHB tape. We didn't want to bother with another set up & put away item. We didn't want to worry about theft when away during the day hiking, mtn biking, kayaking, etc). Also with our little kiddos, we didn't want another thing laying around for...

Yet Another Escape headed to Texas!

Hey Jay... Just got back from five days camping at South Llano River State Park near Junction, TX. If your route back to TX goes near there, I highly recommend it. The park station rents tubes for taking a relaxing float down the river to keep cool. Glad to hear you & Kathy made it up to...

    4Runner w/o Tow Package

Since you are hoping your 4Runner will last for another 10 yrs, I'd recommend getting a transmission cooler installed if your vehicle isn't already equipped with one. We have an older 4Runner with the factory tow package which did not include a transmission cooler for some reason. We opted to...
