Sorry I haven't had much of a chance to post the process of building the 15'. Here are a few shots....

The first few I took were on my cell phone and I couldn't figure out how to get them onto the computer so....I missed a few steps when the plug was cut apart.

This is a 17' shell that has been cut. You can see we added 5" in front of the wheel well and chopped out 29" in front of the door.

From the previous steps to the stage where we are now making the molds....I missed taking photos...sorry :-\

First photo is spraying on the tooling gelcoat for the mold....second photo shows the mold is almost completed. Couple more layers and then wood backing. Then we roll the whole thing over and work on the bottom.

I will try to remember to take the camera with me.

With most phone photos you can send them to an email address, just as you would a text. This is what my daughter taught me. :)

Wow, quite some work! That will be another very nice model, and you will have all important compact sizes covered! When will the first 15' hatch?

Reace......

the Fantastic Fan will be on the middle top of the trailer or more in front.....close to the door???

If you notice the bump in the mold photo (orange) this is where the maxx fan will sit. The original spot was as shown in the first two photos. It had to be moved farther back on the roof to provide sufficient distance from the black tank vent (CSA requirement). Also has to be as close to the front to allow for the A/C to mount.

The first unit should hatch mid to late November.

Well....the top mold is complete. As you can see, it has been rolled over and ready to finish the bottom. It looks like it needs a lot of work....but it should only be a few days before it is shiney and ready to make the mold.

Reace,

I think it is VERY cool that you share this process with your forum. You and Tammy are amazingly open and great to deal with. Thank you.

Eric

hey isn't that cruel to put a turtle on it's back ;D
Just kidding. I don't think I have ever seen under an escape like that before the frame. neat. Kind of makes me wonder why casita has that no cameras allowed top secret policy on their plant tour.

Well....here we go!!! The molds were pulled apart this week and are now all polished and waxed! Monday we begin a new chapter!

Thanks for the photos! It's a very interesting process and I think I finally understand the basics...

Great to see progress being made. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 15', which Tammy tell's us will be built in Dec or Jan. Will still have to wait until the snow melts up here in Prince George, so it may be early April before it's safe to bring it home. Will be a long winter while we wait, but we are making plans. Plan on a trip to Washington State for a week after we pick it up.

Keep the progress reports coming.

Thanks

Well....here it is!

This first unit belongs to Cathy....on her order sheet the order date is September 2008!!! Thanks for being patient with us!
