2019 interior changes

Jim,

I spoke with Escape this afternoon and regarding the back splash I was specifically informed that it was the same soft touch vinyl that is used elsewhere on the walls, I even asked if I'd heard right, but in the video and the accompanying email it does say that "Kitchen Wall is now manufactured using a ‘Water Proof Paneling’". It's probably so new that not all the staff are properly briefed yet? I hope that's the case because if it is specifically designed paneling then it should be better than the previous solution and certainly has a much greater area of coverage.
It would be good to get good clarification from the top. It certainly looks like the back wall of the galley is white, just as on the gable, and it only makes sense. Could be not all staff is fully up to speed on the changes yet.

Mineral Jet with oak

Thanks to CPAHarley, I now have the photo up of our Mineral Jet Formica with oak cabinetry in our soon to be picked-up, year end 2019 VIN E21. See pg4, post 32. Noticed another difference from Reace's video, that being the new SS stove vent. Ours is black.

Color (er colour?) in photos can be deceiving, according to the lighting. The walls are more beige, looking at the dinette photos. Light coming from the kitchen window, is more blue, probably from the side that has more sky, less sun. Maybe. If so, then the wall is probably an off-white color. I hope.

The “classic” version now “vintage classic”?
Though I do like the new look. It looks more modern. But still love my “oldy” more.

I think that it's a bit of a crap shoot how the door solid stock will darken to match the vinyl embossed panels.

The photo shows part of the home office furniture that I made over 20 years ago. The solid stock counter edge was quite white for several years. It has very gradually darkened but still appears slightly lighter than the (real) maple plywood.

Personally I don't like the trim and the paneling not matching but I'm sure lot's of others won't mind it especially those that have been saying "any interior finish other than oak." :)

Did you get the oven? Since the oven is black they put a black vent hood with it, without the oven the countertop burner unit is SS so they use an SS vent hood.

Oven

David,
Yes, we got the oven. Good point about the black range hood to match.

Neither can I understand how real wood will darken to match vinyl. It would’ve been a closer match if the other walls and cabinet panels were veneered plywood, like most big box stores carry in multiple thicknesses. But the price would’ve been prohibitive—probably.

My old maple scrap pieces, left in the basement workshop for a decade or two, is still pretty white.

Just to be clear as one person has pointed out...we are talking about a vinyl maple product for the walls and most of the trim. Not the doors of course which would be the real thing. The vinyl is very easy to wipe down and keep clean which is perfect for camping.

Below are oak vinyl covered bits from my trailer. The moulding has a vinyl wrap and the paneling has a vinyl surface as you can see by the bit that I lifted up. I included a scratch so you can see that it is lighter and would probably best match a maple vinyl.

Note: I have found that removing heavy duty tape or a sticker at the edge of the vinyl will also remove it as well. So be careful if you tape off an area to be cut out...remove the tape towards the cut and the vinyl should stay intact.

Hope this helps someone that has have never seen a trailer in person.

Note to Ron in BC: I like the drawer hardware on the desk, a nice clean look. Well done.

Note to people concerned about changes to the trailers: They didn’t revamp the Escape 15, they discontinued it. Now that’s a change.

Yes, and that is too bad! Seeing how many interested people visited the 15, parked behind us at the Boler event....

MDW talked to Melisa at ETI, and wanted to know more about the new changes. Although our buildsheet is signed off, we are still eligible to make the changes. The new high-rise faucet though, is standard.

She gave us one more picture to think about it.

Hmm. A little stain and clear coat.
