2024 Nissan Frontier and 21C?

Excellent thread. The variety of opinions here are not unusual when the talk turns to TVs. Not mentioned enough: Every new trailer own should visit a CAT Scale at least once when fully loaded. (IME most trailer owners don't bother, ever). And an important feature of a TV is a transmission cooler (usually part of a tow package) and the cab instrumentation that shows transmission temperature. Knowing your weight and trans temp bring much peace of mind. And FYI as a new member and Escape owner, I'll be driving 4,000 miles to pick up a '21 21C in our F150 Powerboost (hybrid) in several week. Really looking forward to this trailer change.

2024 powerboost: 430 HP, 570 pound feet of torque.

2025 Frontier: 310 HP, 281 pound feet of torque.

Now I would have to point out Power Boost is way over rated to pull the 21C. Agree, almost every truck stop has a CAT scale. Use it to get real world weights.

One thing I have noted is fuel economy unladened, the PB is great (22 MPG+). Pulling my E19 knocks it down to 13MPG, and if I really push it, lower. Utah has interstate speed limits of 80MPH. I don't tow at that speed.

The technology on the new F150 Powerboost is pretty sweet if you get the tow haul package and the 7.2KW Pro Power. Mine has hitch assist (still trying to figure that out), and the backup assist and on board scale. And the Lariat comes with 4L, 4H and 4Auto.

Bill, we chose the F150 Powerboost when towing a larger trailer....and of course we could go back up in size at a later date, as well. Is there such a thing as too much power? And for those of us who prefer boondocking, the after-arrival pleasure of plugging into 30A of self-managed AC power from the F150 is oh-so sweet.

I feel like I am outside of the norm here. I went from an F-150 ecoboost towing a 21C to downsizing to a GMC Canyon. I wont say the Canyon is every bit as good at towing as the F-150, but it certainly is adequate.
We just got back from a short trip through the Texas hill country on I-10 which includes some steep grades and high speed limits. Although we did not drive the speed limit, (80mph) the truck would certainly go that fast. I have found the wind drag a bit more noticable when being past by 18 wheelers and the truck is a bit less smooth on bumpy roadways due to the shorter wheelbase. All manageable by maintaining a safe speed and using WDH.
For me using the truck on a daily bases is much more enjoyable and when towing with it, it is certainly more menuverable in tight spots.
As always there are comprimises but owning the midsize already there is no reason to not give it a go before trading it in and taking a loss.
