2024 Solar Eclipse

Planning on it. I hope the weather is sunny. It’s a time of year when it can be cloudy. The best option is probably Mexico, but I have things to do in Texas, and no desire to be in Mexico then.

Thank you Sharon marked on the calendar. We’ll have an excellent from our back yard as we live just on the edge of the path here in Texas

Note that any given location in Texas has a 50% or so chance of being cloudy on April 8th. The rest of the US is even worse. Mazatlan and Durango, its more like 10-20% chance of clouds.

That's why I missed the last one. The eclipse had just started and storm clouds moved in.

Linda and I are going. Taking the 5.0 and staying on the family farm in the Texas hill country. My sister participates in the Bandera, TX small business group and they have been planning for a couple of years now.

My house in Oswego, NY is in the totality path of the Eclipse, however April is usually cloudy in the lee of Lake Ontario.

We have been planning this trip for several years. We will be taking the 5.0 and visiting family in Fredericksburg Texas. Then using that as a jumping off point for Mississippi, Louisiana, maybe Florida (I have always wanted to go to Sanibel Island) and continuing in a long northern loop back to California.

The center line of the eclipse on August 17, 2017 was only about 10 miles South of our house. We hosted a party and had about 30 people attend.

It was A M A Z I N G! Goosebumps!

The 2024 Eclipse passes South of us in Poplar Bluff, MO so we will definitely end up down that way. Can't wait.

For those who have never had this experience, I highly recommend it!

Eclipse April 8th

Good morning everyone. I'm planning to see the eclipse on April 8th and have been looking at northern Texas as a good spot to see it. I was thinking about the Clarksville, TX area. Does anyone know of a boondocking area around Clarksville or in that general area ? I'm open to suggestions for other places. I know this is going to be a very popular event with people coming from all over to see it. I read an article this morning that is predicting heavy traffic along the path of totality.

We are headed to Dallas TX to see the eclipse and Daphne's family, daughters and grand kids.

Hoping it will be clear.

We are going to an Escapees RV Club solar eclipse get together in Paris, Texas. We will be boondocking at the Fairgrounds in Paris with a bunch of other Escapees members.

We're booked to spend 4 nights at: Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, in Buchanan Dam, TX. Sites are boondocking in the backyard of the church. Clear, Dark, and Steady is what we're looking for.

Indy for us

Indianapolis is near smack dab in the middle of the path. Going to visit kin there and we hope to see the eclipse. No biggie if it's cloudy, and it's a gamble wherever you go. Also visiting kin in Scottsburg, IN and then a visit to the Wright-Patterson AFB aviation museum in Dayton, OH, and some visiting friends on the way out & back.
A Spring ROAD TRIP, without the E19. Don't need it.

Chama, do you know if the Fairgrounds in Paris are available for non-Escapee members ? If so would you have contact info for the Fairgrounds. Thanks

I’ll be further southwest in Ingram, TX as long as the weather holds. We have a site for a month to enjoy the hill country in the spring. Then off to see my parents.
