2024 Tacoma hybrid for Escape 5.0?

I mounted my own with a universal rail kit and an Andersen Hitch for weight reasons. First tow was from east of Atlanta to Ft Worth TX. I got about 11-12 mpg.

Nice, so about the same mpg as the F150.

We tried the universal mounts for rails but on the 2020 Frontier, if you use the existing holes in the frame, you can't get the brackets to line up for the rails to accept the Anderson Ultimate Hitch rail version and we didn't want drill into the frame or consume payload with a heavier hitch. Glad that is not a problem on the new generation Frontiers. I'm a Nissan guy. Still miss my Frontier.

I would be very hesitant to tow with a hybrid of any sort.

I towed a E21 with a 2008 Tacoma with the old 4.0L V6, it pulled it just fine, but got wretched gas mileage, and only had an 18 gallon tank so I was looking for gas every 200 miles in the southwest... and it only had a 1200 lb total payload so 500+ lb hitch weight and some gear, and whoops, no room for my wife. :-O

After towing the Escape home from Dallas to the west coast, I was looking for a heavier duty truck. It got the job done.

Now, a 2024 Tacoma is probably an entirely different set of numbers, but still, those are all things to look at.
