Just FYI the 'Build and Price' tool for the 2025 F150 is now available on the Ford retail website and dealers are now able to accept your order for a truck built to your specifications.

Production of 2025 model year will not commence until later this fall, so it will be several months before they show-up in dealer inventory (in the meantime Ford is still producing 2024 model year trucks to address the order backlog). The opportunity to order built-to-spec 2024 model year is closed, but new inventory 2024's will continue to arrive at dealers.

There are no major mechanical or body changes for 2025 but there are a number of tweaks to available equipment groups (standard features included with various trim levels), option bundles, etc. Some of those may be 'significant' depending on your particular 'wish list' of features.

Thanks...

I won't be ready to order a new TV until next year at the earliest. It's good to know that the F150 configuration I am most interested in remains available for the 2025 model year essentially unchanged: Supercab STX 6.5'box, 4x4, 5.0 V8, 3.73 Max Tow, approx 2000lbs payload.

During the wait, I will be monitoring Toyota's progress with respect to resolving the issues surrounding the Tundra before making a final decision as to which truck to go with.

Another just FYI, Granger Ford, which has provided great pricing and a superior buying experience for more than a few folks on this forum, has announced they are offering 4% under invoice for 2025 model year orders. More info is here along with the downloadable Order Guide:

No affiliation other than being a VERY satisfied customer.

Curious why the 5.0 V8?

thoughts on the 2025 F150 Max Tow axle option

Curious why the 5.0 V8?
To keep from detracting from Alan's post I'll answer your question with this link to a thread on the Coyote V8.
No problem for me if folks use this thread for any discussion relating to the 2025 F150 (the wide-open thread title ;)).

Having re-read your linked thread, and given that the 2025 STX is still under consideration by you ....

I have the Max Tow axle on my 2022 F150. That "3/4-float" axle, a design unique to the Max Tow axle, is the subject of a NHTSA recall which provides for an 'interim repair' but with no 'final' resolution / remedy for the issue (axle shaft end-bolt failure) projected to be available until the first quarter of calendar year 2025. I am among the fortunate who have not suffered the failure yet (knocking on wood).

Ford is being very closed-mouth about details of the 2024-2025 Max Tow axle (it's not even mentioned in the 2024 Towing Guide which IMO is a strangely conspicuous omission ). We note that the 2024 Service Manual shows the same 3/4-float design in use for that model year.

Personally, if I were buying a 2024 or 2025 F150 with 3.5EB or the 5.0 V8, I would look for the Tow/Haul Package 53T which includes the Electronic-locking rear axle (a long-proven robust "semi-floating" design like all F150 axles other than the Max Tow). I would not take the optional Max Tow axle on top of that.

The E-locker that comes with the 53T package is the same ratio and same locker functionality as the available optional Max Tow axle. Per the 2024 Towing Guide any F150 with only the 53T package is rated to tow at least twice the weight of any Escape trailer (5.0 and bumper-pull models, but ya still gotta keep an eye on payload). Note that there are no mechanical changes between 2024 & 2025, so those 2024 Towing Guide data should carry-forward.

If I had it to do again in hindsight I would pass on the optional Max Tow axle on my 2022 F150.

Just for your consideration, Happy Shopping! :)

Thanks for the insight regarding the Max-Tow axle option. I wasn't aware about the recall.....
