Friday September 26 till Sunday September 28

Plans are for a return to Thomson Causeway in Thomson Illinois at a beautiful US Army Corp of Engineer facility. Typical to have 40+ units with double that number of guests. Predominately Escape trailers but all are welcome. This will be year ten.

Official activities start on Friday September 26. Unofficial visiting starts when the second person arrives. Booking a site will begin six months before your arrival date. Use www.recreation.gov. The "geezer" card is accepted. That booking date would be March 26.

For a review of prior years, with photos, search using the above tool bar for the 2024 Mississippi River Rendezvous.

An agenda will be published at a later date. For a sample, the 2024 agenda is on the first post of the 2024 Mississippi River Rendezvous.

Hint: If you want to be sure to keep up with the news of the rally, post a reply that you are coming or have visited in the past, that will subscribe you to this thread and you will receive an email notification whenever someone posts a new message.

BRAVO!, Paul, for your efforts in continuing this event. Mary & I intend to schedule our events around this Rendezvous and not miss it like last year. We'll see how that goes.
Looking forward (9+ months) to seeing all the Escapees.

Thanks for the reminder Paul. We are planning to attend. I don’t mind admitting mistakes I’ve made because it’s human. Last year we were on our way home after being out for about 10 days. I considered driving the rest of the way home to “reload” but just got lazy. It was a 200 mile round trip. But by not doing this I didn’t have much in the way of apples, vegetables and free tarp stuff to give away and I missed that. Hope I can do better this year. Also hope pollination weather is good this year again. A couple notes. There’s a very good old time fish market along the road to Fulton. I stopped there last year and got some smoked fish. Nice people. Also I think the big city of Thompson might have repurposed their old Land and water conservation funded tennis court for pickle ball if we have any campers of that ilk. A few years ago my son in law and daughter attended. Todd had some internet work to do and went to the library in Thompson and logged in and was able to work a couple of hours to keep in contact with his nationwide responsibilities.
I’m of a different need and that that is one of needing a daily turtle, bird, snake, squirrel, or other wildlife sighting and Thompson offers that too.
Looking forward to this rally again this year.

We like many others appreciate your efforts Paul. Unfortunately we shall not make it this year. We have a 2 month plus trip planned to visit our son and family in Prince Rupert BC, then down the coast to CA where our daughter and family will have moved in June. We hope to get to one rally we've not attended, the fall NOG.

What? And all this time I thought it was named for me :ROFLMAO:.... After missing last year due to a Viking River Cruise in France we will be back this year again to supervise both Dave and Tom.

Spelling was never my strong suit. In fact I never had a strong suit or much exceptional education success. I do have a fair memory yet and have employed a few people with the last name of Thompson over the years. I guess my satisfaction with the spoken English language is that my strong back and weak mind allowed me to make an honest living, to hunt and fish and trap, and to have enough left over on Friday night after the bills were paid to buy a round or two in the beer joints of Eastern Iowa and fill the truck with gasoline for another week.
I can spell Czechoslovakia where my ancestors were from and that’s more important to me than Thomson, Illanoys.
Iowa Dave

I just looked at the camp grounds and this place looks amazing!!! It's only 2.5 hours from me too. Will be putting this on the list. Just got my 17b last week and I am planing a bunch of trips.

And I'll try to be there to supervise Eric, Mary, Dave, and Rita! I've been absent a few years but am now in my new house, still unpacking a few boxes and still waiting on a few backordered doors and some tiling to be finished. Now that I'm not camping here 100+ days a year I need to get on the road to exercise my Escape!

My neighbor has family in Winona. Know any Birlew's?

Dog parade, costumes encouraged but not required.
Two official dog walking songs
“Who let the dogs out” Peter’s favorite and the singing rage miss Patty Page with How much is that doggie in the window, or for those less fortunate “I could have a new Escape for what I got in this hound for vet bills.
Love me, love my dog.
Iowa Dave and Rita.

Larry & I are hoping to make it to this one! We'll have to see how our older black lab, Emma, does with all the travel before signing her up!
