21' Escape Update

Since the axle ratings have went up by 500lb, perhaps GVWR will go up by 1000lb to 6000lb?

Yes the total of the axle capacities of the 19' is 5000 lb (2 at 2500 lb each); for the 21' it is planned to be 6000 lb (2 at 3000 lb each). That's a 1000 pound increase.
The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the 19' is 4000 pounds, so a 1000 pounds more would be 5000 pounds, not 6000 pounds.

Since the total of the two axle capacities is 6000 pounds, why not set the GVWR up at the same value? They're Dexter Torflex axles, and like other suspensions of this type they do not share load equally over bumps, so the total trailer weight must be kept below the total of the axle capacities. Escape appropriately limits the GVWR as Dexter Axle directs.

Oops, you are right. the 19' has the GVWR of 4000lb not 5000lb. Must have been sleeping while typing... ;D

Yes, but the axle ratings did not change. See post#45 where Reace said 2x3000 lb axles, but the spec sheet still shows 2x2500 axles, same as the 19"???

Hopfully, they will keep those larger tanks and also GVWR of 5000lb. If this is the case, then the 21 will be the front runner amongst my candidates of TT.

My guess is that this just a typo in the new feaures sheet, copying from the sheet for the 19' and missing the change. With the final weights and ratings not established, I assume a correction pass through all of the related information will be coming.

I asked Escape about the axle rating issue (by e-mail), and Tammy responded immediately:
Hi Brian,

Our apologies for the confusion.

The website has been updated accordingly.

Thank you for your patience.

Honda Generator Size?

Don,

What size and model Honda generator do you have and does it supply enough power to run the A/C all night. I am not yet a Escape owner, but will be next year. I am retiring at the end of the year...

Thanks,
Mike

You can ask for the coleman polar cub AC, it will run with a Honda 2000 genny no problem.
