Has anyone used gas struts like this to hold up the bed platform on a 21C or similar?

There have been some threads on that topic in the past. Maybe some searching will find them.

Others, like me, never lift the mattress and hatch because we have extended roll out bins that eliminate the need to lift the mattress.

No luck searching

There have been some threads on that topic in the past. Maybe some searching will find them.

I did search quite a few threads and gave up as I didnt find anything that really addressed it. I also watched the Youtube Eds Eggscape video, etc. looking for options. I do usually look first before asking, as I hate it where there are previous answers just laying there for the lack of searching.

I never have too much luck searching. Sometimes I can't even find my own threads. :) But some folks on the forum are great searchers, maybe one of them will jump in. I think that part of the problem is that a post is sometimes mixed in with other stuff and sort of buried.

Right. Same here. To call it widget, I search for thingamambob, never the twain shall meet.

Did a home made support...

I felt like this was a better option. Phase two will have a magnet mounted under the bed that connects to one in the board to hold it up

Yup, I installed a couple of gas struts. One is installed as a "push strut" which provides a constant pushing-up force to make the bed easier to open. The other is installed as a holding strut, that keeps the bed open once it's been opened all the way. It works pretty well, but now I've had them for a while, it's apparent that their attachment points to the bed frame need a little reinforcement.

Has anyone with an E23 F1 installed struts on a twin bed? My 23 is in production so I haven't had the opportunity to check out if this is even a possibility.

Certainly cheaper, but you show it setting on the floor. Is it going to work as well, if you've got a bunch of stuff in the cupboard?
