Til Osoyoos....has everyone made their reservations. For some it will be their first trip in their new Escape for others it will be perhaps their 3rd or 4th time. Last year was my first and the weather was perfect. Hoping for safe travels for every one. By the way, who is bringing the poutine to be eaten with the Pennsylvania dutch scrapple?

Really? Poutine again? I thought that horse had been beaten to death several times over. And the horse deserves to rest in peace.

Oh Jim......is that really Pennsylvania Dutch or ....Pennsylvania Deutsch ?

It can be both. I'm from Williamsport. My Grandma was German, My Grandpa was Dutch. Both families have been in central PA since (at least) the early 1800's.

Edit: "officially" it's Pennsylvania's German dialect. A co-worker is from Germany, and I've spoken the few words I know to him, and every word is slightly to vastly different than what he has ever heard.
There are a lot of Dutch descendants in the area where I was born. Several in my family tree.

I'm sorry I won't be joining all of you this year, but one suggestion - see if someone can organize a trip to the Observatory B&B overlooking the campground. Was one of the highlights of last year...

Thanks Jon, I believe Stargeezer was the point person last year. Not sure if he will be repeating himself.

A lot of interesting history there , never realized how much German immigration there was to the US until we travelled around in 68+69 ....was really surprised that there were so many down in Texas .
Jim had posted something about Scrapple- couldn't find it ....was wondering about it's actual origin and content ......

You do not want to know what it is made of, just eat and enjoy. Similar to eating steamed crabs, enjoy the taste but not think about what you are eating.

OMG - Jim ..that sounds a little scary ...I'm such a picky eater .....yipes ..... always afraid someone is gonna feed me liver or cooked spinach .....

So, roadkill is out of the question? Just kidding, scrapple is made with scraps from butchering. Growing up I was told it was the scraps that fell to the floor, but that is not true. Just cuts of meat that did not make the cut, so to speak. Slice it, dip in flour and then fry in some lard or bacon fat. Very tasty.

In other words, it doesn't even have to be meat. ;D
Sounds like Spam, without the gelatin.

The ETI Customer Appreciation Rally for 2015 will be my first. Already plotting and planning. BUCKET LIST! Anticipation is half of the trip. It's March the rally doesn't happy until May. SWEET. About 60 days of adrenaline!

Safe travels to all, truly.

Now, Spam has moved up in the world. They have pepper spam, chorizo spam, bacon spam, turkey spam, jalapeno spam, cheese spam and even spam light!! I have tried them all. Pepper spam is my favorite.

Mmmmm....Spam

My bachelor dinner when my wife was out of town a few months back.

Yep good ol' Spam 'n eggs.

Now I have a yearning to watch the Holy Grail again. :)

spam for the rally

My wife says that sounds close to chicarron. Mostly cooked fat cut from the meat.
