A Canadian tariff?

The truck may have been ASSEMBLED in Kansas, but many of it's components came from all over this wide world.
Perhaps of interest to some, this NHTSA webpage which has data for US+Canadian content % (combined, Canadian content is not quantified separate from US content) for many vehicles by year, based on a particular federal reporting and labeling requirement. The % is based on content "value" and is provided by the vehicle manufacturer.

Per that source, my 2022 F150 (not hybrid drivetrain) has 50% US+Canadian parts content; the 2024 counterpart is listed as having 32% US+Canadian content (nope, I've no idea why the big difference / what changed).

Some brands / models report % Mexican content, but not the two I looked at (I know some OE parts on my 2022 F150 are labeled "Made in Mexico"). National origin % of remaining content is not identified.

For quite some time, a gas station in the next town east of here had their price signage as follows:
UNLEADED ARM
PREMIUM LEG

We missed the 10% price increase in 2021 by one day. That increase would have had us cancelling our order.

A 25% tariff will most likely shutdown ETI.
Agreed. They’ve obviously already seen a big drop in sales from the pandemic peak (judging from short completion times and having time to build so many inventory trailers). It’s not hard to imagine the effect of 25% tariffs being the end of them. I think this threat is just a shot across the bow to get attention. He renegotiated trade deals with Canada and Mexico during his first term. New tariffs would go against the deals he made earlier.
