Alaska 2025

Okay, these are the last three documents for this trip.

Who's planning on going? I have a pretty extensive list, but I only know of two other people (a couple) that are definitely going and I don't think they're planning to do the entire trip. Maybe put their truck and trailer on a ferry and head for home from Alaska.

I've been contacted by Escape Trailer Industries and they're interested in sponsoring an 'event' for this trip. Perhaps sponsoring a restaurant dinner. But I need to know who's going. Don't think they'd be interested in sponsoring a meal for three people.

So, PLEASE let me know your plans by Dec. 24. PLEASE. And you're welcome to send me a PM if you'd prefer.

Donna,

First of all, thank you so much for all of your research. You are one organized lady. My husband and I and 2 friends that own a Class C are also planning on going up to Alaska, from the rally. We have a 5.0. I'm sure that we will love some camaraderie on the trip, but we have never done a caravan type trip. You sound super organized, but also sound like you don't intend that we will all be joined at the hip. Which sounds great. We are somewhat organized, but also like to do things on the fly, with minimal fussing.

Nan, I'll send you a PM

Per our original plan, my wife and I will be traveling with another couple from San Diego. We've decided to focus more on British Columbia and the Yukon, so will most likely only go as far as Tok. That said, our route and timing somewhat coincides with the group, other than our plans to route through Whistler initially. We will also probably keep a slower pace, but start out a bit earlier (we're campers more than travelers). Soooo... it looks like the Escape group will most likely pass us up somewhere between Prince George and Watson Lake along the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, at which time we look forward to seeing the group.

Thanks for letting me know Ian. I guess if you're starting earlier, you're not planning on attending the Escape Rally

Holy Moly, Donna! The shared docs are priceless! Well done, well organized. Thank you!!!
If you have some sort of tally going please scratch my name off the list for this trip.
Happy news within the family means that I'll be putting off my Alaska trip one more year.
Bon Voyage to all who venture out this spring and Don't forget to write!!!

You're welcome. And thanks for letting me know you need to drop. Sorry you'll miss out, but I thoroughly understand. Best of luck with your happy news (y)

Unfortunately, we are juggling plans with traveling partners and visiting stops along the way, so will have to miss the Escape Rally. It's complicated 😥

Thank you so much for all your work on this trip and for making so much information available. I plan to join the trip starting from the rally. What you have planned looks amazing!

I will be reviewing the details and confer with a couple of friends who lived in Alaska as I make reservations. I'll be solo, so travelling with others (or at least catching up with the group) is appealing for many reasons. I may make some deviations from the trip you've laid out, but will likely follow it fairly closely. As I live in Spokane, I will be heading that way at the end of the trip.

Count me in!

Info gleaned from Facebook group RVing to Alaska: Reservations open for all Denali National Park Campgrounds THIS Sunday December 1st.

If you are planning on camping inside the National Park at one of the reservable campgrounds the sooner you book the better of a chance your dates will be available. This is one of only a few places we recommend having your reservations in advance. Fair warning opening day for reservations is hectic and sites book up fast! Be prepared and call in early.

More information can be found at www.reservedenali.com. Phone Lines open at 9am Mountain Standard time at 1-800-622-7275. (Start time of when online reservations will open was unavailable at the time of posting.)

I booked a site for the rally this evening and look forward to this wonderful journey. I'll be ready and waiting to book Denali. Thanks for all the planning you've Donna!

Denali reservations start today at 9am Mountain Time. For those that are curious about the Riley campground layout and site areas, I was able to acquire this map late last night from an Alaska Facebook group. This is the campground I'm going to try to get my reservation.

ONLINE RESERVATIONS ARE OPEN! I JUST reserved for 6/24-6/26 leaving 6/27 in Riley Campground. You DO NOT get to reserve a specific site, just a B site or A site and whether or not you have a senior pass. They don't ask for the pass number, I imagine you must show it when you arrive. $19.50 a night with pass, all nights paid in advance.

We made our reservations for the Riley Creek campground starting Tuesday June 24 leaving on Friday, June 27. We also booked the Tundra Wilderness Tour for Wednesday June 25 leaving from the Denali Bus Depot. Hopefully, the weather will be in our favor.

I just booked Riley Campground reservations for 6/24-6/27. I have also booked the 6/25 Tundra Wilderness Tour leaving from the Denali Bus Depot. So excited!

Donna you have done a fantastic job on planning this whole adventure.

We will be heading to AK but won't be attending the rally. We will also be traveling with our Northern Lite truck camper. This is not our first trip to AK so we will probably deviate from the schedule quite a bit. We may come back down through the Alaska Marine Highway Regions - Alaska Marine Highway System

We did just book Denali for 6/24-27 and the tour on the 25th, I'm sure we will be together other times, but I don't want to get into the "I have a reservation, and must hurry to get there" mode.

We have also reserved a B site in Riley Creek starting 6/24, as well as the Tundra Wilderness Tour for the 25th. Hoping to get to see the top of Denali this time!

The online reservation system crashed. They're calling it Scheduled Maintenance.... yeah, right. Those of us that got in early and got our reservations YAY!

I got the down for “maintenance” notice right at 8:00am, but fortunately got through on their phone line. I used the international number: 1 907 272 7275

(note also that the fellow told me that the Denali Park Pass is included with the Tundra Wilderness Tour).
