Greetings all,

Just wondering if any from the group are planning on attending the Balloon Fiesta this year? We are taking our E23, will be there Oct 3 through the 6th.

Not planning on attending. Being a former Burqueno of 40+ years, Linda and I would get as far away from Albuquerque as humanly possible during Balloon Fiesta. The city is absolutely bat $hit crazy during that week. That being said, it is one of the most spectacular events you will ever attend and is well worth it. Plan very, very early. If you need any tips, PM me.

Hey, thanks for the offer Gino. It’s been on our bucket list for a while so we will take it all in stride. We are arriving the day prior and don’t plan on driving anywhere until we pull out. We plan on exploring the city bike trails so any info on that is welcome.

If you are staying in the RV section at Balloons Fiesta Park, you are golden. There is a wonderful dedicated bike path that out of the park that follows the North Diversion Channel. You can ride the 15 miles to University of New Mexico on that path and there are spurs to various parts of the city. It should be a blast for you.

When we attended there was an opportunity the day before to sign up for a crew position. Fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with a monster balloon.

Ron

We are staying at Festival park in the south lot so it should be good. I’ve also noticed the local government has an excellent online map of the system.

We went to the fiesta this year and really enjoyed it. We did not camp, but spent 3 days exploring NM. There are some good YouTube videos on camping there (and where to camp). The spots are boondocks only, so be prepared for that part. I’d love to go out there again for the fiesta, it would have to be on our way home from a west visit, as we are in FL.

Too funny, we will be on our way home to the Pacific Northwest from our trip to Texas. We’re all setup for boondocking, three days should be no issue. Looking forward to exploring the bike trails in the city as well.

ABQ really does have a good bike lane system. Twenty years ago, Linda and I were 100 mile a week commuters and our routes were almost totally dedicated paths. The system has only gotten better since then.

Getting ready to order our E23 soon so will not be able to see it this year. However it is something the wife has wanted to see for years. Please let us know as much as possible how and when to start planning / making reservations etc for 2026.

Thanks
Chris

To me, the most intriguing event is the gas balloon event. They usually launch at night because they have to bring in the big, helium gas trucks to fill the balloons. Totally different vibe than the hot air balloons. The hot air events are like a big party. The gas balloon event is like a space launch.

Hi Chris,
You’re gonna love the E23, it’s an excellent product. First thing I can tell you is be ready to book your stay as soon as reservations open. I was on the reservation web site 10 minutes before opening, had to wait an hour and a half in the queue but did get the spot and dates we wanted. Reservations opened at 09:00 and by 11:00 that day they were completely sold out, every lot. The festival has an excellent website, that should be your starting point for sure. Ill do a post trip report here for those that are interested.
