ANOTHER F150 5.0 B&W turnover ball Anderson setup question, not to reinvent the wheel

So after 100% deciding on a Gen14 F150 SuperCrew with 5.5' bed, and Escape 5.0 for retirement, I have now been researching hitches. I'm VERY strongly leaning to the turnover gooseneck ball with the Anderson. SO that being said, I assume the B&W gooseneck kit BW77FR from etrailer is my ticket. But I also read on one post here about somebody needing the B&W 4" setback ball? I'm curious why the setback ball because the Anderson setup 3220 already comes with a 4" offset.

From my understanding, I would mount the B&W kit, use the standard turnover ball, then use the Anderson with the setback to the rear and Im good to go with cab clearances, etc. Can somebody here with the SAME setup (Gen14 F150/B&W turnover ball/Anderson) verify if I'm missing something?

I DO APPOLOGIZE as I know this topic is beating a dead horse! But I plan to buy the parts now and do the install myself when the truck comes in - I sure don't want to do it twice :( Thank you!!

I tow a 5.0 with a '22 F150 FX4 XLT 6.5'ft bed. My B&W turnover ball kit is the basic one for the F150. The Anderson hitch is the basic hitch with the ball towards the tail gate. Our 5.0 has the lift kit and the Anderson coupler has the ball cup mounted towards the rear. It tows like a dream. Not sure why someone would use the 4" setback, but it's probably a one-off application or special need.

Yepper, that looks like the ticket for your 2025 F150 (y)

Just FYI, if Humboldt, Kansas (home of the B&W factory) happens to be a convenient stopover before you pick up your new 5.0 .... Back in 2022 when I bought my new F150 the folks at the B&W factory installed my turnoverball in 2-hours with an advance appointment. The hitch cost was the same as e-trailer's 'discount street price' and the installation fee was a flat $100 (!!) which is a heck of a deal for absolutely perfect 'factory' installation. And the 2-hour tour of the factory while waiting for the install was amazing.

I'll not comment on the need / desirability of the 4" B&W offset piece because mine is the older Gen 2 Andersen Ultimate which has a different base offset than the current Gen 3 Andersen Ultimate (the coupler-block offset is the same / unchanged).

Suggest that you take that Gen 2 vs Gen 3 base offset difference into consideration when you read comments about what folks are using.

Thanks guys!! As to not beat a dead horse - haha - I think my questions may be answered! The B&W kit, and the Anderson seem to be the ticket for me. I just read thru another long thread I just found while searching "offset ball" and learned so much, along with Centex drawing. This helped a lot! So I think I have my setup in my head anyway. As for the 4" offset B&W ball, that sure is tempting. Just from an "insurance policy" of cab clearance, and also for the extra 4" of room with the tailgate down at an angle. But I guess the good thing is I can try it out first without the 4" offset, there is no differences in the installation. I do need to understand the coupler tube length issue on the offset ball a tad more then I'm all set.

Centex - the tip you just gave me about stopping at the B&W factory - that is huge - I had no idea!! I just may have to look into that :). It would be nice knowing the factory was doing it. I'm just not trusting of some 18 year old kid working at a hitch shop cutting on my brand new truck, or even changing my oil for that matter. I'm the guy who re-torques his wheels in the parking lot after I get new tires LOL!

Thanks again everybody!! We will be joining you folks on the road soon :)
