Another pick up trip

The tank level monitor for the gray tank does not work. The tank overflowed into the kitchen sink and the monitor said it was still empty.
I assume you pushed the button to turn on the meter, and only the "empty" light came on. This is the opposite of the usual problem with this type of level gauge, in which crud sticks to the sensor electrodes and shows wastewater that isn't there. The only ways to have missing indications are
  1. faulty LEDs in the monitor panel (extraordinary unlikely that all would be bad)
  2. bad wiring connections from the sensor electrodes to the monitor (unlikely that all levels would be bad)
  3. bad wiring connection to the reference electrode at the bottom of the tank.
My guess is that last one.

I'm surprised that the grey wastewater backed up all the way to the sink level instead of coming out in the shower - that shower drain must seal well when closed.

As reported and discussed in How does plumbing vent system work?, the 19 Foot and 5.0 (original single axle) have a hidden air intake vent pipe, which could overflow inside a cabinet if the gray water level gets this high. I don't know if other models have the same configuration, but if the 5.0TA does (ask Reace) I would be opening up the cabinet with the vent to see if all is okay.

Best camp so far

Hilliard Junction SP in Oregon. Dry camp, on a small river and we are the only unit here besides the host. Two nights, maybe three.
This is the view out my back window.

Last post should havE been Hilgard Junction.
Last night and tonight we are in Breneau Dunes SP in Idaho. Nice and quiet. Only 3 units last night and one when we drove out this morning. Water and electric at all sites. Giant sand dune out here in the middle of the desert.
Visiting the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise this afternoon. My turn to watch the dog while Joanne checks it out.
Photo from the campground.

Pocatello Idaho KOA was OK. Colter Bay is a little better. Actually the park is much better. The campground is more crowded, but we arrived about 4 PM and had no trouble getting a spot. Not worth a picture.
I finally found a hill the Frontier does not like. 5 miles of 10% grade. 2nd gear and 25 mph the whole way. Fortunately that is the recommended speed for most of the climb. Next time I have a choice, I will not take that one.
OK. One picture.

Must be bike week at Sturgis. We are headed south toward Jackson and have passed at least 50 migrating motorbikers headed north. I guess they are taking the scenic route through Yellowstone and Cody. I am somewhat envious.

Rawlins, WY last night, Strasbourg, CO tonight.
Having lunch at a Wyoming rest area near Cheyenne this afternoon and watched a small car try to pass a semi who was pulling into a truck space. The car driver misjudged the rear the semi and ran into the right rear wheel. Bent everything from the bumper to the support piller behind the driver's door. The semi had a scuffed tire.

Dick and Joanne,
Looks like you are having a great trip...other than the things that aren't working properly!
Safe travels!

Wakeeny, KS Wednesday, Oak Grove, MO last night. Tonight we are in a lovely state park near Nashville, Illinois. The rear view camera is working very well. I finished a rough installation in the campground Wednesday.
Found a winery in Paxico yesterday. All elderberry wines, but a couple are pretty good. The reds are a little sweeter than I like, but the white is good.

Washington county conservation area campground near Nashville IL.

TVA campground south of Nashville TN tonight. Hungry Mother SP in VA tomorrow and maybe Monday. Home by Tuesday. Then we get a week home before we take off again for New Hampshire.

We were in Hungry Mother 30 years ago in May -- rained all night and we never saw the Campground. I'll be interested to hear how you like it.
