I was under my trailer doing some maintenance, and happened to notice that I'm a lucky owner of another set of Escape installed trailer "death brakes". The wire terminal was obviously damaged during installation by over torquing. Given that the weight of the wire bundle is also supported by that terminal, I'm not sure how long that ground would last anyway.

WTF Escape... how is this is any way a remotely safe installation? Your crappy wiring on the lights is one thing, but the brakes? That needs to be 100% correct.

This isn't a new situation. On my 2014 E19 I found broken splices and rusty grounds.

I ran a serial ground cable to the brake grounds as well as a couple of other items. The cable went to a s/s stud threaded into the frame. A large cable went directly to the battery negative.

All connections were coated with liquid tape.

You'd think after all these incidents of broken ground wires on the brakes, Escape would do something like that from the factory.

I guess it's going to take a pedestrian stepping out in front of a trailer with faulty brakes for them to fix this?
