Hi all,

Our question: Have any or you recently (since the new ownership) picked up a trailer that had a defect that needed factory fixing right away?

It hasn't happened to us. We're wondering how many people have needed repairs upon pickup.
We're picking up our new 21NE in a week and camping it back to Northern California.

As we plan our return, we are unsure if we need to linger near Chilliwack the first night or two in case we need a repair (Ahhhh, Canada in January), or make for home in 250-300-mile legs. We want to be through the Siskyous while the weather is mild.

We are inclined to do the latter, turning around only if the need arises.

Escape seems such a great brand, so we are just being cautious
Thanks for any info,

C&K

It may be prudent to spend a day with your new rig nearby to test and use all the systems. Others have done that.
If you decide not to, Escape has been good about paying for items under their warranty. They do not warranty appliances as that is covered by the manufacturer of the appliance.
Take a day to check it all out is safest, or head home right away and roll the dice.

I bought my rig, used, sight unseen until showing up 2 states away and didn't check anything out. I've had no problems occur. My gamble, but a 3 year old fiberglass trailer usually doesn't present many. A new one, if thoroughly tested at the factory, shouldn't either.

We spent a night or two near Chilliwack more to get used to all the systems and outfit the trailer before we got on the road. ETI encouraged us to return if we needed help but all was OK.

We picked up our 5.0 in September and spent a few nights in Ferndale at the Cedars. Nice place. We had no issues then or since. It actually helped us get to knowing our setup and breakdown process for the trip back to Texas.

I had our 21ne shipped down to Northern Texas and we received it 9/11/2023. Got all hooked up and headed for home, another 500 miles away.... Stopped for an over night mid-ways and continued on to our destination the next day.

Moral to this story......... NO problems at all with our Escape or it's appliances to date......
In my option, when you buy the best........... you get the best.......
Have a safe trip home, be careful, and let the adventures begin...... enjoy!

Cheers to ya..... and Happy Trails.........Jack

(Ahhhh, Canada in January),
Yah, it's awful. I'm working in the yard and I had to take my fleece off because I was getting too hot. :)

Big difference between this part of the world between us and the rest of Canada and as far as I can tell a lot of the US right now.

Some folks have vastly different comfort levels than others. Do what makes you comfortable. A lot of folks cross the border and go to a nearby campsite and spend the night there. Easy to return if a problem shows up overnight.

We've picked up two trailers without incident but others have found things that they wanted fixed.

We picked up our 23 the first week of December and planned to stay in the area for two days in case something needed attention. A good decision as the entry door was bent. Escape put a new door on the next day while we took a lovely hike along the river with our dogs.

Escape graciously offered to pay for hotel and dinner for our overnight stay, which we did not accept. IMHO, they are an outstanding company and are very responsible in addressing challenges that may arise.

We owned a 19 for four years prior to purchasing our 23, so know first-hand what quality trailers they are. Nevertheless, sometimes things happen and its good to allow time, if possible, for them to be addressed at the outset. We're glad we did.

The only issues I encountered during my trip home from Chilliwack were a couple of loose electrical connections. I reported the problem to ETI while camped in Osoyoos for a couple of days and they responded quickly with some basic troubleshooting advice. I managed to identify and fix the issues myself after locating the wiring junctions under the bed.

My advice to anyone picking up at the factory would be to plan on staying in the Chilliwack area for at least one night after delivery and thoroughly test all the systems.....just in case a significant issue is immediately discovered that requires attention from the factory (I think it's rare, but can still occur). I would also recommend bringing some basic tools. I know I'm glad I packed an electrical meter!

Yes, there's several nearby places and for those that want to make tracks toward home sooner than later there's nearby places in WA state also. If there's no issues then they're on their way sooner.

As other are saying, it is a good thing if your have time to spend a day (even better two or three) in the area and get used to the trailer and test all the systems. As Ron mentioned some have no issues, which is probably most, but other like us had several issues to fix. The new management is exceptional at taking care of problems either on-site or working through warranty repair.

I'd highly recommend spending a couple of nights nearby - just in case.
We booked 2 nights @ Bayview State Park, on the WA coast, south of Bellingham for our 5.0 pick up last March.
During the first night we experienced furnace issues & the escape hatch crank wasn't working properly. Called Escape the next morning & was told to bring it back & they'd fix the issues that afternoon. So we went to lunch and, upon returning, were told that, while making the repairs, they discovered another problem & needed to keep the trailer overnight.
Apparently someone had used too long of a screw when installing the interior cabinets & there was a penetration up through roof, so they'd have to do a fiberglass repair.
The Escape after-sales folks were extremely apologetic & put us up in a nice hotel nearby (as we couldn't stay in the trailer) & paid for our meals. The next morning the trailer was ready to go (roof repair was perfect), so we were on our way back home to California.
I'd just hate to think what would have happened if we'd headed home without returning for the initial warranty repairs. The screw through the fiberglass could have gone unnoticed for months and who know what damage could have resulted if the roof started leaking.

I hope all goes smoothly for you, with no hiccups, but it's best to be prepared to if you do discover any issues.

I’ll echo the recommendation to plan to stay locally for at least a day or two.

Living relatively nearby in WA, I picked up my new 5.0 in June and drove home, only to discover a few issues that needed addressing. ETI service was very responsive, but I kicked myself for not spending more time to check everything before leaving the first time. Would’ve been much less back-and-forth if I’d simply got it all done at once instead of making another trip back up a couple months later.
