Hello forum, I'm shopping for a small 5th wheel, 4 season RV. The Escape 5.0 would be perfect for me if it was 4 season capable. I'm curious if anyone has built an enclosure for these tanks to protect from freezing? I'm aware that Escape offers a tank heater option for these models, but that requires shore power or generator power. Most 4 season RVs have enclosed waste water tanks with furnace heat plumbed into the cavity, which doesn't require shore/generator power. thanks

I think that you're fighting an uphill battle to achieve the equivalent of a 4 season trailer.

You could use pink or blue foam to enclose the grey tank but that's nowhere near your 4 season goal.

The insulation is foam about a 1/2" thick with some Reflectix foil in some locations. I'd estimate the R value to be less than 1. It's much less than what I've added under the floor. There's a huge heat loss from the walls and roof in very cold weather and the furnace runs a lot to keep the interior warm.

I don't know what the R-value of trailers sold as 4 season is but I think that you'd have a difficult time coming close.

Mind you, I love my Escape so, with my second diesel furnace, I just pour the heat in as a cost of enjoying my Escape in really cold weather.

It depends what you mean by '4 season' but here's our setup thats had no problem in 15F temperatures:

I have been thinking about the same thing. My thought was to make a clam shell insulated lid that I could hang underneath with a hydronic heater running tubes around the tanks and underbelly.

I guess we still don't know if huge-ass was thinking about four-season use in British Columbia, or somewhere a bit warmer. 😉

Either your interpretation is hilarious or his user name is. No matter, I laughed out loud.

Hilarious.
I've watched the Simpsons series more than once but hadn't seen that in print before.

Hi, I have a 2022 Escape 5.0 for sale. I'm in Danville, VA Second owner, very clean. Write me for details. letsdance2day@hotmail.com. I'm 82 and need to dial back my travels so I can spend more time with my grand kids. I've seen prices for this year from 42k to 51. About 8000 miles. Make me an offer. If you buy my tow vehicle I will make you a deal. 2014 Ford F150 V8 motor, Anderson Hitch, brake controller worth about 15K on KBB. Thanks Frederick 9287780086. I've camped in temp of 27 degree with no problems. Not fancy, no solar, no lithium batteries.

Reminds me of years ago when a newbie aka troll signed up with the name of an imaginary Seinfield character. Didn't like being asked about the name. :)
