I have a new to me 17b and am looking at doing the fan conversion with the 2 molded fibreglass panels from escape and a new vent fan.

Escape sells the ventline VP-453 fan which is their standard.

Maxxair has a vent fan of the same size, but with a light in addition to the fan and it looks a bit better in my opinion.

Has anyone here used the maxxfan dome plus and have an opinion on it?

Thanks for your info and responses!

I'd like to hear opinions as well....

I've considered swapping out the VP-453 in my E19 for the Maxxair version in order to gain additional lighting above the medicine cabinet mirror. I'm curious if it is a straight forward retrofit or if additional surgery is necessary.

I have no direct experience with these Fan models.

However, have read many posts on other RV Brand forums the Maxxfan has a poor quality on/off switch. Many owners have isolated "fan not working" failures to the unit's switch . . . . nearly all just beyond the warranty period of course. I've not come across VP-453 posts - - - do not know it VP is better or just not a commonly installed brand.

Do agree with you the Maxxfan looks better + has a light option.
VP-453 draws 1- 1.5A at 100cfm maximum.
Maxxfan Dome draws 2A at 200cfm maximum (assume it will also be louder)

Thanks for your input Craig.

I think I will try the maxxfan dome next summer when I do the fan retrofit on my trailer. I’ll update when it’s done and see how it turned out. Seems like it hasn’t been used yet in a 17, so at least I can let other know how it goes.

I didn’t think of looking at the CFM of the fan either, but good to know it moves more air but might be louder.
