Best Overnight Rest Stops

Pahranagat is great but is very often full. On the opposite side of Hwy to the entry to Pahranagat is large gravel pit that is great for overnight. Level spots, fire rings and often a supply of firewood stacked there too.

Mehan Lake Rest Stop-BC

We know of lot's of great rest stops but this one is in a class all by its self, for one lucky person.

Mehan Lake is along the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy. The rest stop is very nice, even without scoring the prize. The picnic area is separated from the road and its picture perfect. Overnighting on the lower level would still be great.

I saw a "road" going off at one end and walked down it. At the bottom, much to my surprise, there was a level spot lakeside, plenty of room for a trailer and a fire pit and small dock. Not to mention the beautiful lake.

We were heading to Boya Lake so we didn't overnight there but I couldn't resist trying it out. Backing down was easy but my 2WD truck did do a bit of wheel spin coming back out. No biggie.

I don't know what percentage of time the place has someone in it but by the looks of it I'm not the only one who found it.

Harvest Hosts - everywhere
Ron, perhaps our main overnight stops don’t fit your criteria so forgive me if so. But our Harvest Host membership gives us “free” overnights about anywhere in the US. I used “ “ marks around free since they recommend you patronize the host - often a winery or produce farm. Most do not have hookups.
On our upcoming trip to California, virtually all our stays are either free HH or senior discounted National Parks.
HH offers a premium membership that gives you access to free parking at private residences. This is the formerly totally free Boondockers Welcome. We haven’t tried that. I’d be interested in hearing from someone who has.

You're correct but glad that they work for you.

But there's been some interesting free overnights posted that do fit our style. Looking forward to trying out a couple in the future.

Ron

El Mal Pais National Monument in New Mexico has a free campground just off of Highway 117 if you happen to be passing thru, as we were on our way to Chaco Canyon. It was the nicest free campground we’ve come across, complete with bathrooms and a picnic pavilion at each site

Love the pic of the teardrop. For the past 10-12 years or so we've been camping in a teardrop. My wife decided we needed something bigger so we just moved up to an E19.

Joined Harvest Hosts yesterday. We will be visiting one of our sons and his family in San Diego probably sometime in June and will be sure to stop at a winery or brewery or two on our leisurely way there.

Question regarding HH:

Is there a way to add my wife to my account or does she need to login as me in order to use the app?
