Better Bathroom Faucet

The type of bathroom faucet installed in Escapes is similar to a lot of other RV stuff, lower quality than equipment installed in a residence. I've had this type of bathroom faucet/shower for years in boats and RVs. Forum rules don't allow me to say what I really think of it.

I did order a pull out faucet/shower previously but despite the dimensions appearing to be workable, they weren't. The one that arrived today looks workable.

So I'm about to replace the unit that we all know and love. Hate that always in place, and your face, hose. And the single lever control is so much easier to control water temperature.

Aside from making a cover plate I can't see any problems using this one. Same situation as the ETI one with the supply lines. They're very close and the hose will have to be looped to connect.

So far, so good.

The faucet looks good and keeps the hose out of the way until needed. I prefer single handles, too.

I haven't had two separate taps at home to juggle the temperature with for as long as I can remember. The single lever is so much easier.

Looking at the unit and the fittings close up I'm impressed with the quality. Of course I'll hold my final opinion until I go out, make the connections and test it out.

How well does it work for showering, is the sprayer hose long enough?

Well that was exciting. The supply piping ends fairly close to the ends of the supply tubes. The two handle faucet has the supply tubes several inches apart. The single lever has them very close together. But, starting with the hot water supply tube, farthest away and working my way out it's quite doable.

The faucet hose is long enough that it can touch the ceiling. I didn't install the weight that pulls the hose back down because it's absolutely not needed. The package came complete with the adapters to hook up to ETI's fittings.

I had a choice when deciding which one to order. There is another similar one that has a 3 way faucet. It can have a solid stream, a sprinkle stream or act as a water fountain. I wanted a simple setup without any extra items that may or may not cause potential leaks so I chose the solid stream one. Any water that's there's lot's of and the perfect temperature is OK with me.

I'll be heading out on a fishing trip in a week or so and I"m looking forward to testing it for real.

Ron, please do let us know how you like this new faucet after using it a bit. After a first round of mods last year, I'm ready for a second round, & that bathroom faucet has been getting some stink eye from me.

But the hose is short for showering, maybe it could be replaced with a longer one.
Otherwise, wide spray mode, and also a button for turning off water if needed, right on the handle.

Mostly because of the aesthetic but also flow and temp control, a carry over from my days working in a lab. Just my preference and a source of disagreement between Linda and I during times of renovation.

I'm 100% in agreement. I don't even have any issues with the stock faucet. It works as designed. It's nice people can make their own choices

The stock ones have less chances of accidental opening during bumpy rides, for sure. Although the one OP bought was designed for RV use, it looks like.

I did order a similar one to that. They gave dimensions and they looked OK but holding it up in place it was just a little bit too large. The faucet stuck out a bit too much. As they say, size matters.

I'm happy to be rid of the two tap handles and that always in your face hose up to the shower head. Not to mention the fairly fragile hose connection that snapped on a previous trailer.

Mount with the hose connection facing down. That takes the strain of that tube. Not sure that can be done with a sink however. We don't have a sink in our shower.

As far as the fragile hose connection on the original plastic job, I think most of the problem comes from the stiff plastic hose that comes with it. I changed ours out with a short SS hose like this https://www.amazon.com/682-812-Mast...261603&sprefix=flex+shower+ho,aps,142&sr=8-28
It's much more flexible and doesn't pull on the faucet connection like the plastic hose did.

The existing bracket holds it and will only require minor tweaking.

The connection has to face up. This is how I dealt with it in my 19. I think that maybe ETI is doing something similar now?

I think I found what I like:

1) single-handle faucet, compared to stock 2 handles
2) on/off switch on the shower head, not a button
3) long enough shower hose (maybe even too long)

With that, there is an issue of adapting this faucet to existing holes, and maybe installing just the handle and the spout on the sink, with shower hose routing directly to the wall somewhere and not through its housing tube.
The spout could also be too large, they don't provide measurements but based on the pic, should not be too large for the sink. And since it's metal, it could be theoretically bent to any shape and form, and even cut shorter.

That looks good and I don't think that the spout is too large. It'd be nice if they provided dimensions but when you look at it relative to the other components the scale seems doable. Also, the one that I found and returned was a pull-out type and that certainly takes more horizontal space than this spout does.

I think that all 3 components could be mounted on the sink. The existing holes are 4" apart so there's likely lots of room for the spout between them.
