Brand New 5.0 Issues

We just had a warranty repair done. Not only did Escape come and pick up the trailer for us from Vancouver Island, they reimbursed us for various out of pocket expenses (having to cancel a booked camping trip) as well as an additional payment for 'inconvenience' due to a slightly delayed repair.

Wonder how many other RV companies would do that?!

By my estimation, zero. Glad to hear it.

Hey neighbor, sorry you are having trouble with your Escape.

You can improve the frameless awning windows increasing how much they open with a simple modification.

.

The newer models the spacer has been replaced with shorter arms so this mod doesn't work anymore. I have a 2022. Not sure what year the windows changed.

So true! Owned mine for 5 years
Fridge not working after pickup repairman had to fix
Broken main power turnoff had to be replaced
two lights inside needed replacement
outdoor light broken had to fix
Lights on canopy don't work
Leaky sewer pipe had to be replaced as well as the gates that open and close to let waste out were replaced by escape
Window fogging issue replacement window sent
Glue that holds bar that pushes window open is defective had to re-glue two windows already

All issues that should not happen on a well cared for one owner trailer so you better be handy cause in some areas there are no repair shops and the one in my area was reluctant to work on the trailer cause they don't understand the electrical system.

OK but don't complain on this forum the same vultures will attack.

Well, as they say, opinions are like... well never mind. One thing is for sure. If you plan on owning an RV regardless of brand, you'd better be handy or have a high credit card limit.

There is a tendency on the part of some users to be overly protective of Escape on account of their personal experience, even though that's little comfort to a fellow owner who is facing real issues. While nowhere near the long list the OP here faced, we got similar response when we shared adverse experience when we first bought our camper.

Escape is a reasonable camper - and it has been net positive for us. We hope to use it much more once we retire. However, as a company, I am personally not overfilled with satisfaction with it. The quality they delivered left a lot to be desired. I have learned from this forum that the quality expectations for the RV/campers need to be very low but it's a steep learning curve for the first time owners.

None of the above is to take away from the fantastic support the forum users generously provide to others.

We just took delivery of a 2024 Escape 21C. Different setup from yours but we did find very loose electrical connections, including battery terminals and ground terminal block set screws.
Also, loose plumbing connections going to kitchen sink.
Good luck with the repairs.

We just took delivery of a 2024 21C. A lot of disappointment. First time out the trailer disconnect alarm went off every time we went over a bump. Escapes response was that that's what happens when you tow with a Ford F150. Entry Switch wired incorrectly. Loose wire connections on battery terminals and ground terminal set screws. Loose plumbing connections for kitchen sink. Excessive cable (2 Ft) for Emergency Brake Switch. Escape blamed manufacturer of switch.Cubbies raw, rough plywood with trim only on bottom edge.Bouncing entry step due to misalignment installation. Escaped blamed Lippert. Could open gas stove cover because the wrong cord retainer installed by Escape.

If you go to the Ford F150 forum you'll find that it is a common F150 situation.

Thanks for that. When I sprayed the plug with Fluid Film the problem went away. We towed 60,000 miles with our previous trailer with no problem. Also, tow a boat trailer. Escape is aware of the problem but has no fix. Seems like if we try replacing the plug it might solve the problem.

I didn't read all the ins and outs but I recall some talk of the led lights being part of the problem. Something to do with their lower draw that can make the tug think that the trailer's not there any more. Lots of threads about it.

Only affects trucks newer than mine so it's never being an issue for me.

Interesting. Escape doesn't have much to say regarding the problem. Hard to find anything specific on the Ford Forum. Our truck is a 2018 which doesn't seem to have a problem with other trailers.

My 2021 has that issue with the stock Escape 7-pin plug. My previous trailer didn't. It's plug had a single metal contact for each pin. The Escape and most newer plugs are Bargman style plugs with 2 metals strips in each pin with curved ends. This doesn't seem to mate well with Fords plug because the double pin won't slide over Fords rounded contact. I solved the problem by installing the EZ Connector system. In 3 years I haven't had an issue. EZ connector also has 7 pin male and female adapters so you can still tow a trailer with a standard 7 pin plug.

Etrailer sells EZ connectors and you can check out the EZ connector website:

Food for thought

That may explain why our '22 F150 has never experienced this issue. When we had the B&W turnover ball installed for the Anderson hitch, we also had a 7 pin receptacle installed in the bed of the truck. I'll have to check and see what brand it is but am almost certain it is not a Ford connector.

Hey neighbor, sorry you are having trouble with your Escape.

You can improve the frameless awning windows increasing how much they open with a simple modification. It only takes a few minutes per window. I did this to the split rear windows and the kitchen window. I didn't do the dinette window that is behind the awning arm, or the ones in the loft or bathroom as they are not very tall. Here's a youtube that shows you how to do this.
.

The frameless window design changed a couple years ago which eliminated the spacer.

I think I saw one thread that said it was only 2021? on that had that feature and problem.

We picked up our 19 back in August, there were a few minor issues mostly cosmetic we had planned to bring the trailer back in for service in September.

The summer here in the PNW has been dry but a storm with heavy rains passed through the area a few weeks after pickup. Noticed some water on the floor upfront and realized the front window was missing a good portion of the sealing butyl tape. The water damaged ended up extending to most of paneling and trim up front. Called ETI that morning, they picked it up later in the afternoon (we live in Seattle - 3 hour drive and border). We were disappointed with oversight which if left unnoticed would have caused much more damage.

Besides the quality lapses, the response and addressing the issue was on another level. ETI repaired everything addressed the other minor issues, delivering the unit back to us. I realize we are close to ETI and being farther may have delayed this resolution.

ETI seems to be struggling with maintaining the level of quality it seems they may once have had as they scale production up but the after sales support is something you don’t see in this industry often.
