Brand new senior trailer owners

Hello...our new to us 19 ft. Spree Escape is being Certified as I Type this. I was so excited until I read the recall. Hubby just called from the dealership, they never heard about the recall, but he's a heavy equipment mechanic & a great welder so he will take a look for them....lol. He says nothing to worry about ....recalls are normal...whewww! Its our first ever travel trailer & we can hardly wait. I have read so many check before & after lists....my mind is boggled....We are in Northern Ontario Canada...(where snow was invented ) We are looking to our first trip to pick apples this Thanksgiving on Oct. 7th
..sorry about the smiley faces...not sure how I got them or how to get rid if them.....LOL

Not sure if you realize or not, but this site is mainly for the owners of Escape moulded fibreglass trailers, while your is a K-Z RV.

Don't feel bad though if you confused them. My insurance company tried to insure my Escape as a KZ Spree and it took several phone calls to get them to correct it.

Oh Robert .... first thing tomorrow I'm going to haul out my policy and check it ..... wouldn't that make for an 'interesting' claim!

I would assume now with the import debacle behind us that the proper records are now maintained for Escape and Escape Spree rvs for NHTSA as well as each states registration/titling
records. But then again that make be wishful thinking....

I think that's correct. If you can pull up an Escape by VIN now, so can the insurance company.

Thank-you jmac. I'm having a heck of a time navigating this site...lol We luv our trailer even if its not some ones idea of the correct Escape. The only differences I see are the rounded look of the others...they seem similar inside. We looked for over a year to find a trailer for hubbys retirement next May and lucked out with this one.

The major difference is that the fiberglass trailer is molded in two halves which are then fiberglassed together, while the KZ Spree starts with a flat frame to which additional side walls and a roof are added, and then the outside cladding. Those of us in the fiberglass world sometimes call the latter a "stick built" trailer, or a "stickie" for short.

Either way, congrats on your purchase and the start of your new adventures!

Thanks Jim for clearing up the recall thing for me. I now know why our dealer never heard of it. It sure did make me feel better about my little trailer.

It's nice to know the difference. I wonder who used the Escape name first...do you know? It makes it a little confusing to newbies. I know now why I have never seen an Escape before, I understand they are from the West coast & I am in Northern Ontario. They sure are pretty though. I am real happy with my sticky too....lol

The difference is that KZ has a model line called a Spree, and one of the models in that line is the Spree Escape. The "make" is not Escape, but KZ.

Escape Trailer Industries makes only Escape trailers, of which there are several sizes, the 17, the 19, the 21 and the 5.0 TA. The "make" is Escape.

The "Escape" trailer name has probably been used by more than one manufacturer over the years, since "Escaping" is kind of what you do with a trailer.
