Breakdowns in the time of Covid...for those traveling

Here is something else to consider for those traveling or planning to.

A friend of mine is currently stuck at the store, car broke down. She called for a tow. They'll come but they cannot give her a ride home. No passengers allowed. She is to leave keys on the seat and leave the car before they will get it.

She called a neighbor who hopefully gets there soon. Nowhere safe to go inside and wait, no friendly coffee shop.

Now imagine it is you and you break down on the highway in nowheresville. And the tow truck driver isn't allowed to give you a ride...What do you do?

I don't know if this is standard practice in most places now or not but might be worth asking about.

Hi Bobbie glad you brought this up . Linda has been wanting to just go for a ride , like through Big Sur for the day . Which means we need to bring the 3 fur babies too . We would be gone too long and far to leave them at home . One is a senior fellow and just can’t be left that long .
I said what if we were to break down on the road ? We also would need to at least get gas . We have been doing our best to stay home . It is hard but we know it is what we have to do . Pat

Echoes of our concerns! Living where we do, relatively close overnight camping ventures would be easily doable within Covid-safe guidelines. It's the unforeseen circumstances that keep us at home.

At least with the trailer we could hole up inside and wait for help. But the one time I broke down towing a trailer it was on the freeway- hardly a place for boondocking!
