Build Sheet Almost Done, A Few ?

The 5.0 TA and the Escape 21' are almost identical from the door rearward, thus a 21 and a 50.TA with the "U" dinette would look the same as will the flip up tables.

Woohoo! I think we finally finished the build sheet. Won't sign it quite yet since we still have a couple months of leeway. The last holdout items were formica, fabric and flooring. Formica will be Mineral Jet - a dark one that several other members have chosen. Flooring will be Mediterranean Walnut - Natural. And fabric will be Sunbrella Milano Char. I'm exhausted.

I like your choices, especially the floor wood look. Makes me think about adding a wood floor to Prairie Schooner next Spring. May I ask what the upcharge was for the floor, it maybe worth the $200 change fee.

The charge for custom flooring is $100 but I'm not clear on how this is handled. I don't know if we pay Pioneer for the flooring plus the $100 to ETI or if it's just the $100 and ETI buys it from Pioneer. I emailed Sarah for clarification. Others certainly know the answer and can chime in.

Good to know, I can put in a Pergo wood floor for about $100 for materials, will probably do that.

Although they didn't allow a change to the flooring when we ordered in 2014, I'm almost glad of that. I'll be installing some Allure vinyl plank flooring, and since the square footage is quite small, it will take less than two boxes - and cost under $100.

It probably could go over the existing floor, but I'm going to remove it in order to compensate for the thickness of the vinyl plank. No need to remove all of it, just the visible area. Remove the floor trim, take a utility knife to the perimeter, peel up. The Allure is a floating floor with grip strips to adhere one piece to another. Once down, just replace the trim.

Yeah, I'm thinking $500 is way too high for a small sheet of vinyl. Then there's the fee from Escape. I wonder who the supplier was in the post above. I would think the vinyl itself would be under $100.

I found a retailer online who charges $2.67 per sq ft for the vinyl sheet I wanted. That works out to $416 plus the $100 to ETI. Too much. I think we'll go with the default and hide it with a runner. Maybe later do the planking. Mods are what it's all about anyway, right?

Traffic master sheet vinyl flooring, looks like wood, at Home Depot - 99 cents per square foot. In a 19 foot trailer for example, you'd need less than 100 square feet.

But yeah, you can always do it cheaper yourself.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal for ETI, not so much for the purchaser. When I bought my trailer, I was told that it was not possible to switch flooring. Like others, I think that if I ordered another trailer and wanted custom flooring, I would do it myself post purchase.

You pay the $100 to Escape and purchase the flooring yourself.

From Pioneer: "The product you have chosen is Duality G6150. I have been told by Escape that you need a piece 12x13 which equals 156 square feet
Pricing is as follows, 156 x 4.00 = 624.00
PST = 43.68
GST = 31.20
Total = $698.88"

This is in CAD and with the exchange rate, worth it. As the flooring goes down before any cabinetry is installed, it would be difficult to install later. Also, the quality of the vinyl flooring is several levels above what Escape installs. I don't plan to buy another trailer in my lifetime and want the best for this one.

Ya know, it's one of those things that given too much time to think about you do. We had what we thought was a better looking stock flooring in our 2010 17B but of course it was discontinued by the time we ordered our 21. Spent a lot of time at Pioneer and then at home looking at vinyl before going for the stock flooring. No regrets especially using a runner.

We went up two grades of vinyl and ordered through Pioneer. Very easy, and got over 30% exchange rate. Less than $150 plus ETI $100 fee. It was approx $250 total for a much better vinyl, pretty reasonable to have it installed throughout the trailer at build.
