This has probably been answered before but, after looking through posts and searching for an answer, I give up. Can anyone tell me the depth of the cabinet over the sink/stove in the 19'? I'm looking at some dinnerware but don't want to get anything that won't fit. Thanks!!
Jan

Jan,
The dimensions of the cupboard below the sink are 33-1/2" w x 12" h x 17-1/2" d.
The dimensions of the space below that is 35"w x 15-1/2"h x 5" d.

Do you know how deep the overhead cabinet is? It looks on the layout that the overhead cabinets are about half that of the lower ...

The rear of the top cabinet is curved due the the trailer profile. The distance straight in from the bottom of the door is 12.5" and the distance straight in from the top of the door is 9.5". The cabinet opening is 6.75" H by 23" W.The interior of the cabinet is lined with the vinyl wall covering and is vunerable to objects that could rub through or puncture the vinyl.

Thanks Tonny. Bob - I really appreciate the insight into the curvature of the back of the cabinet and the possible damage due to shifting objects. Do you carry your dishes/mugs/etc. in the top cabinet or in the bottom cabinet?

The advantage of the Casita's "fur" lining is that it is not susceptible to tears. We much prefer the vinyl, but I'm concerned with how to protect the vinyl from punctures and undue wear. Especially thinking of around the bed, dinette area, and inside cabinets where hard edged objects may be stored.

So the question to all you longer term owners.........what has been your experience, and what have you done to ensure the longevity of your trailers? We expect to use ours for the next 20 or so years.

We store cooking and eating items in baskets in the cabinet below the sink.

Good question to post. While we are 'trying' to wait until we pick up our trailer to outfit most of it, there are still things that we will need during our pickup and return home. Don't want to buy something that, in the end, won't fit or work so it's always helpful to hear what others are doing. I was going to carry dishes/mugs in the top cabinet; however, in thinking about what might happen during transit, that might not be a good idea unless things can be secured very well.

We plan to spend two nights in Chilliwack while we finish outfitting our trailer making use of the local Walmart Supercenter. We already have most of what we'll need, but are holding off on the few things that will need to be "fitted" into the new trailer.

The vinyl is tough. Five seasons in our 19 and the overhead loaded with cook/serving ware, no visible wear there or at any place in our trailer.

Our trailer is a 2008 and so far the only damaged area was caused by a hot toaster oven that got pushed back too far and there is a screw mark...Not really that noticeable.
Our top cupboards have all our dishes/coffeemaker/ tin foil etc etc..
The really nice thing about the vinyl is when you have multiple bug kills they wash off very easily... It really is sturdy stuff

We came to an Escape trailer by way of the pop-up world, so already had most of the stuff for trailer camping. We packed what we already owned when we drove to Chilliwack to pick up, and found with the Escape there was actually much more room than we were accustomed to having!

We keep our plates, bowls, coffee mugs, & wineglasses in the cabinets above the sink, and have never had any larger problem than some minor shifting around. We do keep the wine glasses (real glass, thank you) in the cardboard box in which they came, other than that everything is nested as can best be done, and nothing has ever come flying out, or broken. The heavier cookware goes under the sink, but it wouldn't fit overhead anyway.

I've driven some pretty ugly roads and never had an issue with upper cabinet storage. Dishes, glassware; clothes and towels are in upper cabinets. The cupboard doors lift up, so are unlikely to open. I keep canned goods in the shallow cupboard under the sink, and that has come open a couple times. Fridge door has come open twice. I now have spring-loaded bars to keep canned goods in place and a bungee cord to hold the fridge closed.

Great insight and ideas. Really want to thank you all for your help and comments! Of course, this means that I now have an excuse to go out and get a "few" more things before we head north. John claims we're going to have to rent a U-Haul to get everything up to Chilliwack! What a silly thought ... hmmm.

Oh, did want to mention that I contacted the Hypervent manufacturer in Marysville, WA, and asked if we could stop by and purchase directly from them. They responded "of course" and said that if we pay with cash, there would be more of a discount.

Good to hear that the vinyl is so tough, and to hear that the smooshed bugs wash off easily! We plan to do a lot of camping during black fly and mosquito season......which around here seems to be all the months without snow.

WHAAAAT!
Hypervent is made in Marysville??
Guess I should have paid attention before I ordered the other stuff because it looked more 'shippable'.

Ooops, yes, Marysville is what the site says. Their email indicates they're "only two blocks off I-5 at exit #199". Look at the bright side ... if you need/want more, they're right down the street from you.
