Cabinet Hardware

Am considering using different cabinet hardware on our 21 due 9/30. Saw an Rpod today with a face frame hinge (hidden), like many have on kitchen cabinets today. The Rpod door had a strut as well. I know it will require a hinge cup inside the cabinet door.

Any thoughts on that one?

I'm not too sure ETI will stray from the stock cabinetry due to cost. sometime ago one owner had them router all the edges of the cabinets, really looked nice, but Reace said it was too labor expensive. They may change the cabinet pulls if you want, but other than that I'm not sure.

My concern would be vibration. The hidden hinge has adjustment screws that could loosen and cause the doors to misalign as you travel. What is used for the bath door hinges in the 21?

ETI will not install custom hardware. They would leave all doors off for me to do myself. Kind of forgot about it until I wandered in that Rpod today. Looks nice, but am trying to learn from other's experience if this could be problematic for any specific reason.

When I search RV face frame hinge I see one without the adjustment screw you normally see for kitchen cabinets.

The Euro-style hinge takes a specific size cutter and a bit of tooling to hold things while the mounting hole is bored. Definitely a lot more work for ETI cabinet makers than the standard. The bits are readily available; if you have a drill press they're pretty easy to install if you have ETI supply the doors without hinges mounted.

Just went out to the trailer. There are 16 doors in my 19! It may not be possible to install hidden hinges in the upper cabinets because of the way they are mounted. A very small lip on the inside of the frame is available.

That's what hung me up, too, even on my little 15. The pulls are cheap but the sheer number of hinges will get you. That says a lot about the amount of storage in the Escapes. Maybe someday, I'll change them out...

I'll bet that's it. The cabinet shop just does the doors for ETI. The production guys install onsite using their stock hinges. Think that about does it for this idea. Thanks all.
