Camping near Saint-Benoît-du-Lac (Québec)?

We will be traveling from Watkins Glen to Newfoundland in August 2026 and want to spend a day at Abbeye de Saint-Benoit-du-Lac. Does anyone have suggestion for a nearby campground?

You've probably been researching places to stay, so take my posting for what it is. We haven't been to Saint-Benoit-du-Lac, but we have made many trips to Canada. 10 miles outside of a major Canadian city, it becomes very rural. If you are looking for a campground with bathrooms and hot showers, your best bet is to look for one near a metropolitan area. If you're up for boondocking and to be closer to Saint-Benoit-du-Lac, search for camping on www.hipcamp.com - anAirbnb for campsites. We have used this site to find locations to stay in less populated areas, particularly away from the interstate highway system. Set your expectations low. You'll have a place to park, and they're generally quiet. No amenities. It is just a safe place to stay and you won't have someone knock on your trailer and tell you that you can't stay.

Call the Abbey? It can't be the first time that the question has arisen.

We have stayed several times in that area. There is a park in Bromont that used to be a KOA. I believe it is just called Camping Bromont now. Bromont is a really lovely town with great shopping.


Last year we stayed at Camping Granby in Granby. Another lovely park, not to far away, with a zoo nearby.

We love to visit the Abbey! Perfect setting and amazing architecture. Be sure and buy some cheese there!

I'm sure you have searched Google maps. The two most convenient places I see would both be on Provincial road 243 (highway 105 on the US side). One is Camping Nature Plein air, 2 or 3 miles from the border and about 32 miles from the Abby. The other is Camping Lac Trouser Inc, and is about 14 miles from the Abby.

I will have to remember this If I ever travel into the area. I do want to visit PEI, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland (basically the Canadian Maritime region)

Provincial parks are usually good choices when travelling in Canada. Each province has its own park website.
