Just heard on the news, 1 o’clock CST. Trudeau said Canadians should start to “come home“. It sounds like the southern Canadian border will be closing.
Thanks for posting information from reliable sources, Donna.![]()

Let's NOT go down this rabbit hole for discussion. PLEASE.Interestingly enough, is that there is no mention of the "irregular border crossings", those are the illegal border crossings that have been ongoing for several years. These are people who are not using customs ports of entry to come into the country but are dropped off at select locations the US side and they walk across to claim asylum. No stats yet available for 2020 but it has been increasing again for the last while. The last 1/2 of 2019 saw over 9200 people walking across the border and filing for asylum. I guess the lesson is if you can't come in legally, jump the cue and come in illegally, or irregularity as our great leader calls it.
The border is not closing and will be open to Canadian citizens and Americans. We are working our way up Interstate 5 back into Canada at which point we will self isolate for 14 days. That said this is not a great time to travel and it may be prudent to ask Escape to hang onto your trailers for a few more weeks or months until the situation stabilizes. Choice is yours but there is a health risk more than any other type of risk.
I try to remember to think 60 days out. My pick up date is around then. This is a very fluid situation and has drastically changed in a matter of days.
It will continue to change and hopefully for the better, sooner or later.
A month to two months can bring a lot of change.
Wrote the big check Today, can't wait to start playing my guitar outside my new rig.
Love to everyone.
Love from all of us back at ya, Tim. I hope things change for the better, too. The sooner the better. -Tom .
Having crossed the border at Sumas multiple times, I have found the Canadian and U.S. border personnel particularly knowledgeable about all things "Escape". Considering that just about every day of the week for several years now, Escape trailers have passed through at Sumas for export to the U.S., and Escape's customers have passed back and forth during the final purchase and pickup process.
I would expect little or no problem, unless you have symptoms and shouldn't be traveling in the first place.

Thanks Uncle Tim for the encouraging post. Our new E19 is completed and we planned to pick up on May 19 and then head on to the Escape Rally. We live in south MS so It's a pretty long drive - I'd hate to get almost to Canada and then find out we couldn't get across or the trailer couldn't come across to Sumas. But like you said, a lot can happen in the next month or two. I'm trying to be patient and plan to be fluid and ready to go if it looks like things will work out. At some point we'll have a new Escape and I can't wait!!
Ditto! Our experiences and sentiments as well. It’s a fluid situation. We’ll just have to see what the situation is at the time. Like you, we worry about being caught somewhere, or something happen with the border crossing.
Good luck to everyone and stay healthy!
