Canadian selling 2022 Escape 19 while in the US? Any issues or any advice?

It needs to be imported into the USA first. It's always about the paperwork. You can find/hire an importer.
Yes, and it's possibly why sometimes, despite having a Nexus card, they'll get out of their booth and walk to the rear of the trailer and visually look at the trailer license plate number. That might indicate that they have a record of folks who enter the US with a trailer and exit without one.

Who know, but since it's so easy for a person to buy it in Canada and import it themselves it'd seem questionable to try taking it to another country and selling it.

It was always about being legal…just not sure if the import paperwork needs to be done at the border or at a DMV branch in the state where its purchased

I think the buyer can go to canada, buy it there, bring it back across the border importing it at the border, then register it in a US state, but I don't think the seller can take it across the border as a the owner, then sell it, as when they crossed the border they undoubtably filed paperwork saying they were bringing it back.

99.99% certain that states cannot do the required import paperwork - that's solely the purview of CBP (US federal Customs and Border Patrol agency), not delegated to any state agency.

As I said they often make it clear that they know the license number on your trailer when entering the US. There's never any mention of not bringing the trailer back with you and no paperwork.

We're in Arizona/New Mexico for the winter right now, but the only way Minnesota would title our Bigfoot, purchased at Peden RV on Vancouver Island was to have the 7501 paper work that is filled out only at the border crossing plus the sales receipt.

Don't know what the other states require.

Food for thought,

I don't think that close attention is paid to trailers going into the US and not coming back to Canada. Twice we have left our trailer in the US and returned later for it, once after two months, the other time only a couple of days when we were camped in North Dakota and needed to attend a funeral in Winnipeg. Only once have I been asked for the trailer plate number and luckily the agent did since my plate had been stolen mount and all so turned around and went to check first if plate had fallen off in our driveway (it hadn't) then go purchase another since we were spending a couple of months in the US.

I agree with others that a buyer must import trailer him/herself similar to what I did importing my Escape from the US.
