Does anyone know the dimensions of the external cargo door on the Escape 19?
We are considering some camping gear, and want to be sure we can get certain items through that opening.

It is a rectangular rounded opening. The width at the top and bottom it is 20 1/2" and at the middle it is 22 1/2".
The height at each end is 7" and at the middle it is 8 1/2".
We are able to put folding chairs in if we enter them in the middle of the opening.
Hope this makes sense.

Aha.... that writes off a number of things... barbecue for example.
Thanks!

Some folks carry larger items inside between the front dinette benchs with the table legs stowed. Others prefer to have the dinette accessible for rest stops so keep that area clear.

Good point! I'm sure thus whole thing will be a lesson in the economy if space.

I think a few Ecapers removed the old hatch and installed a larger one. I don't know the dimensions of the larger hatch ..... someone here will .... Stay tuned ....

I was already planning on changing the latch and lock to a double lock. Hadn't considered a larger door....

Bigger items, like barbecue and chairs, we take along in the back of the tow vehicle. Much easier to find and grab for between stops. This way I don't have to leave my most favourite chair at home:)

We had figured on a certain amount for the back of the truck, but would like to keep some key bits stored in the trailer for setting up camp. Less prep before trips.

With our 19 we thought along these lines. Anything to do with the trailer or campsite was kept on the trailer. Stuff we might do away from the trailer we would try to keep on the tow vehicle. My reason was that I could use one of a couple vehicles to tow the 19 with, my Pilot or F350, and the stuff particular to the trailer would always be ready to go.
