Hello fellow Escapees -

I have a 2022 - 21C with an electric awning. There is a small, 1.5" apx by 6" casing just inside the front of the awning metal span at the mid point. It seems to be chirping every 6 seconds. Just started about two days ago. 1. Does anyone know what the purpose of this casing is for? 2. Any thoughts on why it is chirping. I assume it is some batteries wearing out, but don't see an obvious way to take it apart, although I so far have just done a brief inspection of the thing. I hope to delve into it in more depth in the next day or two, but any insight anyone has into the situation would be great to know about. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to all of you.

As Vermilye has pointed out it is indeed the batteries for your wind detector. Check your manual for how to open for battery replacement. I have had to replace mine twice and must say I had difficulty each time opening up the casing. Had to check the manual each time. Just confirms I am a slow learner

If the wind detector takes AA or AAA batteries, try installing Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. The greatly increased lifespan more than makes up for the extra cost, and it saves the aggravation of changing them so often.

Or rechargeables. Then you only have to pay once and recharge them for free off your 12V system thereafter.
