Compartment latches?

I installed RVLock key latch to one of my external compartment doors. The door doesn't seal tightly. Is this because the shaft is too long? I made sure the tab was turned internally, and thus as close to the wall as possible.

Does anyone recommend any other type of latches?

I replaced my original storage door locks with these locks and they fit perfectly:

Locking at the specks for the RVLock, it appears the shaft might be to long for the tang to engage the inside lip. I can't remember if I had to flip the tang but I recall having to bend them slightly to get a good seal.

I also had to bend the tab a little bit to get a tight fit. Bent one a little to much and had to straighten it back a little.

I got the 3/4" shafts. Bent the tab (tang) and now the doors seal fine. Thanks for the tip!

New question (okay to ask a new question in the same thread since it's related?) How do I remove the lock on the water compartment door?

Just measured my door and the length of the locking tab. Door is about ¾" thick and tab looks to be 1⅛" long. Using those measurements this set should fit.

Okay, color me stupid... The locks I bought came with a straight locking tab and an offset locking tab. Which locking tab did you use and "bend" to fit? The ones I bought according to the online measuring details and which I posted above do not fit.

I got RVLock Key Latch which is 3/4 inch shaft. I had to bend the offset tab in just a bit. I'll try to get a pic soon. (Trailer is kept at storage...)
