Same thing happened to us. We changed to the spare. Upon returning to Mesa we contacted Dexter. They shipped us a new Axle and also sent us a refund on a new tire. Must have been an issue with several 2021 year models. It's what I've seen on this site anyway.

No, it's not restricted to 2021 models. My 2019 required a replacement also.

But the frequency of these claims does seem to be increasing over the years.

Both axles were replaced in our 5.0 by 7,500 miles. Dexter sent new axles, paid for the install and for two tires.

When we sold the trailer at 44,000 miles pulling down the road I put new tires on since we travel too far and hate flats, so we got at least 37,000 miles on the existing tires. They were worn evenly, but I was uncomfortable with the remaining tread.

Food for thought,

Perry

We had to replace an axle on our 2019 E-21 under Dexter warranty. Dexter paid for the axle and installation but would not reimburse us for the tire damage.

I just filed a claim with Dexter for outer tire wear at 2.5 years, 9500 miles (Escape 17:cool:. They agreed to replace the axle as a "goodwill gesture", but not cover labor or tires. Hmmm? I'm curious if all the folks that have replaced axles are now getting good mileage out of their tires?

Was that outer tire wear on both tires?

I considered getting a free replacement axle a good deal, no tires or labor. Replacing it yourself is easy and you end up with some spare parts. :)

It does appear that my tires are now wearing evenly.

Thanks for your response Ron. I had significant outer wear on both tires at 9500 miles. Glad to hear the replacement axle did the job. Any idea of how many miles you have on the tires with the new axle?

Interesting, so no moving one side or the other backwards or forwards would have fixed that.

No exact idea on mileage, I don't keep a mileage log. Somewhere between 4 and 7 thousand miles.

Ron

Probably 20,000 miles later I've been rotating tires around and they're all wearing on the outside now. LOL

Not sure I follow this. Weren’t they originally wearing on the outside? Have you contacted Dexter?
