Hello travelers, the Dometic refrigerator in our 2011 Escape 19 died recently. We have found that the same size frig is no longer made. It was an older model with one door (freezer inside, no separate door)
Has anyone replaced the frig in an older 19? If so, with what?

Hello All, (Some guidance please)

I am Dori's husband. We have the 2011 19 with the Dometic RM 2510 that is now not working on both AC and propane.

My intention is to take it out and send the back side to a fridge rebuilder in Riverside CA, Cool-Fun; and have it rebuilt, then reattach and reinstall. (at this time the absorption type and size work well for us)

I have taken out the 2 back screws, 4 front screws and disconnected AC, gas and 12v. Also trimmed the caulking on the front underside.

It does not want to move yet of of the cabinet.
*** Does anyone know a trick or something I have missed to get it to move out of the cabinet?

Thank you

What brand absorption 3-power fridges is Escape installing these days?
I’m looking for a replacement for my old 4cu.ft.
(Awaiting response from Escape… but…😁hoping for faster reply and/or better suggestions from the wonderfully knowledgeable and broad perspective I could tap into here.)

Thank you for any input!!

Hello,
I do not know for sure what kind of fridge they install now. I thought they were all compressor fridges now.

I am still trying to get mine out of the cabinet.

To remove my refrigerator from an Escape 21 it was necessary to remove the molding around the door. This exposed at least four screws holding the refrigerator to the shelving. On my RMD 8555 several of the screws were hidden but accessible. Then of course the gas line, electrical and drainage from the back side.

There may be some new refrigerator models that might fit. I was able to secure a Dometic 10.5 XT that was an identical size to the model described above. An excellent refrigerator after one year of use. Rebuilding does have some risks associated with it. I would approach that method with care. There were also some Amish folks in Indiania that were in the business of rebuilding. I never read of a success or failure on rebuilding.
