My 2017 Dometic awning LED light strip will not turn off and drains my battery. The strip doesn't respond to any options on the remote control. Have changed RC battery twice and still no response. Whst's the best solution?

I’m having the same issue with my 2021 E19. Saw an earlier post about the problem being a stuck receiver switch, but I cannot find it. Anyone know where it is located?

Is this the post you are looking for;

"Luba,
Trying tapping the outside of the receiver module with the handle end of a screwdriver. You'll have to give it a decent whack in order to dislodge the relay if its stuck. Not so hard as to break the plastic cover or damage something but not a light tap either."

ugh, glad I made my own, which I plug into an external 12V outlet when I want to use it. I'm not terribly happy how the led tape in a silicone hose came out but it works well enough. instead of hanging it on the awning roller, I've taken to just laying it on the ground the length of the trailer as that provides nice indirect light. and it has a dimmer.

led tape:
(except the warm white tape I got seems to be NLA)

dimmer:

silicone hose:

once I got the light tape inside the hose, I squirted Lexel sealant into both ends to make a plug so its weather-proof.

Yes, that is the post I was referring to, but I do not know where the “receiver module” is located.

Mine is the 5.0 fifth wheel so not sure it it’s the same, but.
Mine is located in the top of the cupboard to the right as you walk into the trailer. If I remember the receiver was tucked under the white wall covering.

Look at your light strip from the outside and see which end has the wires going into the trailer and then look inside the trailer for a cupboard in that area. Feel around for a lump or bump.

Maybe somebody with a 19 will have a better answer.

Thanks! I did as you suggested and found the wires from the LED strip entering in the rear storage compartment in my 19’. No receiver module was visible, but there was a slight bump in the area of the wires ingress. I gave the area a few good wallops and behold, the switch worked! Until it didn’t again. More banging and the cycle continues. It seems to me that I have the sticking switch issue mentioned in the earlier post. Or maybe a short in the wires, or loose connection? To access (and repair or replace) the receiving module, I assume the wall covering has to be removed. There doesn’t appear to me a way to do that cleanly, without destroying the covering. Am I missing something?

Razor blade cut an “X” peel back. Then - wait for it to- duct tape the “X”.

“If it moves and it shouldn’t “duct tape” , if it doesn’t move and should “WD 40”.

Ugh…I may just keeping banging on it until that “new to me “ feeling leaves…can’t bring myself to slash it just yet!
I like your fix it philosophy and would add “if it needs to be held, vise grips”!
Thanks for your guidance!
