Dometic CFX coolers - other options to consider?

Hi there, I have a 2012 17B in which we removed the Dometic cooler to make more space for our bed (it's a cool modification if I do say so myself - really opens up the camper). In lieu of a permanent fridge replacement we opted for two Dometic CFX coolers: one small one that we have on a dolly and can either set outside or on the front driver's side dinette bench depending, and a larger CFX we put in our car for longer trips.

In theory this works really well - but I'm not completely sold on the Dometic coolers. We've had problems with both and in fact Dometic is about to replace both of them (good for them for standing by their products, incidentally). Given that we are about to get two brand new replacement coolers, part of me is wondering whether I should explore other options prior to opening the new ones, so that if there's something better out there I can sell the replacements for better prices and put that money into something different.

So - Escapees - I'm curious: do any of you use other portable 12V coolers? Have ones you love? That you hate? Are there any permanent but small fridge options I should consider that might fit in that front dinette driver's side corner without throwing off weight/balance/etc? Any other random thoughts?

One big thing: power consumption is a biggie for us as we boondock for long periods of time and are not keen on using our Honda generator. I have 3 100W panels on top with 200 Ah of battery inside.

With gratitude,
Elizabeth
