Dometic RM8551

After years of aggravation over inconsistent performance, orifice cleaning, exotic flue additions, fans, removing the ice compartment door, etc etc., to my absolute amazement my 8551, on a very recent trip to high elevations, did, after a drive-up hiccup, perform like a normal fridge. Yes, on propane. It must have heard me thinking of junking the thing.

Myron: Glad to hear. What was the ambient temperature?

  1. Thurs around 8:13 PM arrive campground Colorado -Fridge 8551 had been at 5 dots propane. fridge temp now 57°f, trailer is at 80°. Reset fridge -- propane 5 dots.
  2. Fri morning 5 AM fridge now at 27°, trailer is 62°. Too cold, so I dropped fridge to 4 dots propane. At 6 AM fridge is now up to 34° and it is 67° in trailer.
  3. Saturday morning at 8:30 am fridge is 32° and it was I think, 70° in trailer.
  4. At around noon, back home and it is in mid 80’s outside, fridge is at 34°.
