Driving by the Casita factory

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I sure agree that a forward facing window would be a necessity for me. But I find the shape of that one a little jarring. Doesn't seem to match the rest of the trailer. Sort of reminds me of those opera windows some cars used to have.

If you are talking about the front of the trailer, I believe that is a decal on the front. The added window is near the sink.

Yes, the added window is on side by door. To me no window in the front is a big plus. all you see is the truck or campsite road anyway. I can't count the bugs I cleaned off the front rock guard on my 19 over the years. I can't imagine a newer escape with no rock guard. I interested in seeing the results of the acrylic windows a few years down road after they been hammered with bug juice. You have to be very careful cleaning acrylic windows and I not sure you can remove bugs being that careful. my prediction is lots of scratched front windows with no U.S. parts available. Of course this can all be avoided with no front window. I am real fan of the new ETI acrylic windows, I believe they will solve some of the condensation issues in escapes. On my next Escape it will be either a 21c or 23 with no front window.

Well, as usual, another item with varying opinions :) If I bought that trailer and a front window wasn't an option a few days after it arrived it'd have a front window. I like to be able to see out in all 4 directions at night. Maybe if I only ever parked in high end campgrounds I wouldn't care but I don't and it's nice to be able to see what happening outside at night without having to open the door and go outside. OTOH it's nice to be able to see out in all 4 directions.

It's true that sometimes first time users of plexiglass probably ended up damaging and badly scratching it. But newer acrylics are tougher and with care they can stay scratch free for a long time. My Goldwing windshield is 20 years old and is still without a scratch. Despite being splattered many times with bugs that otherwise I might have swallowed. :) The glider canopy is still in very good condition which is important because a scratched canopy creates a horrible glare from the sun when badly scratched.

So, there's a possibility that some new owners might carelessly damage their acrylic windows. But as long as they read and follow the care instructions the windows will stay unscratched. I've seen some quite old acrylic windows in European caravans that were still in very good condition. There's nothing new about acrylic windows in trailers, they've been in use in Europe for many years.

The Casita has the bathroom in the front, so no need for a window.

More windows are better!
I agree, even my Scamp 13 had a window in the bathroom, I call a room without a window a closet. Maybe that's where the term water closet came from. :)

Notice that the Scamp f.g. bathroom walls don't go right up to the ceiling. Was never a problem though.

I run across a better video of the new casita. I find it interesting how they have the tanks enclosed. I cannot figure out how they are attaching the black coverings. seems to be some spray foam coming out around dump valves. I like how nothing is exposed But wondering if you can excess anything. The foam on escapes can make repairs a PIA.I was hoping the casita might have better access.

Why, why, why would you place the furnace dead across pointing right at the fridge? Could there possibly be a poorer location?

The whole kitchen counter wastes a lot of space. Using a liner there has resulted in tiny drawers etc. compared to what could be there if it was framed construction.

The kitchen counter isn't all that large and is composed of 3 different areas rather than one continuous same level counter and stove. Wasted space.

Looks like the hung the tanks underneath, draped some sort of flexible material and filled it with foam. Looks better than ETI foam but, yes, still limits access if it's needed.

But, overall, that size shell offers some great possibilities.

I do like the window in the door. It has a shade that you can either open or close. Wish ETI offered that.

You can buy one and put it in yourself, if it fits: RV Entry Door Window with Internal Shade 16"W x 25"H
That a possibility for ad on, but this one you have to have the door open to reach the shade because of the screen. The one casita is using had a lever down at bottom where you can open and close is the same small opening for the door handle. This way you can use it with door fully closed. Its the first one i seen of its kind.

but as the owner of a one year old trailer I wish it was an option when I ordered.
I guess that's the flip side of a company that is always expanding and offering new options. But it's better than at least one company that comes to mind that kept offering the same old, same old for countless years.
