Hey Ken, I'm curious about that also. My soon to be 21 has that option. I haven't read any negative comments about the dual six volt set-up that I can recall. Hopefully others with first-hand experience will weigh in. Jeff

They're Interstate 6-volt deep cycle; on Interstate's website it shows one part number GC2-XHD. 232 amp hours- looks exactly like I had on my 17B.

They offer the most amp hours; next closest Goup 29 12-volt is probably around 100 amp hours. ETI rates it at 126. That is the battery we have now with the solar option and it is always full. If you camp in a lot of shade you might do better with the dual 6-volt.

Interstate GC2-XHD

We had the U-2200 6V Interstate batteries in our old stick trailer for bout 6 years and often discharged them right down to almost nothing (on a few occasions to zero charge) and yet they continued to perform well. The batteries started to die then, so we replaced them with an identical set. I understand that the replacement battery, the GC2-XHD, may even be better so I am satisfied with the brand and model ETI is using.

We dry camp and fish for extended periods and did not have a generator or solar panel for most of the years we had our Nash trailer. The past couple of years we got a Honda generator (2000 W) and would charge the trailer every few days at the same time we charged our boat's electric motor battery. So our first set of trailer batteries suffered significant abuse and likely would have lasted longer if we didn't run them down so low all the time.

If you choose the dual six volt battery option the current Escapes come with Interstate GC2-XHD six volt batteries. The Trojan T-106 is an option but you have to provide it to Escape for installation. They are very comparable.

On my 2014 17B they are Interstate #GC2-XHD-UTL 232 AmpHr, 122 minutes @ 75 amps - and they are fabulous!

I'm sure the Interstate 6V batteries supplied by ETI are fine, but even if they wear out earlier than you might like or you just don't like them, they are a common physical size so many other brands (such as the Trojan model Paul mentioned) will drop right in.

Our dual 6's on our 17B have been sitting outside, unplugged since October, running the lights and furnace when we visit the trailer and they are still in the green. Also find they have a very quick recovery on the 40 watt solar panel I plug onto them when off grid. They did great on our last month long trip in September when we were unplugged but needing the furnace and water pump and lights while up in higher altitudes where it got quite cool. Yes, they are Interstate.
