We have power only on our side of the street but the telephone pole in the alley is leaning precariously and if it goes, so will our power. The ice storm damaged a lot of trees in our locale and since it will be below freezing continuously until sunday's storm, that may be the proverbial straw that breaks the back. I can always stay in BlackJack but no way can I get my 94 year old mom out, through the snow and up the step. I'll have to turn on the gas fireplace and then we all can huddle around it. Hopefully Sunday will change.

Here's a sight to warm your hearts, the storage area for the winter completed Escapes awaiting warmer weather pickup be their new owners. Heart warming shot but in the few minutes it took to take the shot my fingers almost got frostbite.![]()

Hi: Ray N... Those must be "Snow Birds". They're all over here in Ft. Myers Beach. We are seeing many types of birds that have never visited us before. I wonder if all the cold weather isn't causing them to winter over a little farther south this year?
I've never owned a vehicle with a remote starter (until a few days ago, having only lived in Alberta for three decades, and I haven't tried that one yet), so I think I'm allowed to point out that you can go out for a moment to turn the key - maybe while you are walking the dog or getting the newspaper - and then let the truck warm up while you are inside. However, it does kind of suck for me as my remote starter on my truck appears to have crapped out in the last couple of days. Once you are used to leaving the house into a warm vehicle in the mornings, it is quite painful to have to drive to work in a very cold vehicle.![]()
