Escape 19 Do you travel with the table up or down?

Here you go my flat bungees are otherwise engaged but you get the idea.



Like I said I am changing those boards to oak and adding a few more cleats for securing other things under the table.

Thanks Cypherian for taking the time to post your table picture. I think the way you are securing your table is probably the easiest and a very effective way to go.

I've got the same table setup in my Starcraft as the Escapes come with, put on a lot of miles over all sorts of roads without mishap. I do however like the idea as having a method for securing the table for those times your going to be on rough roads, Cypherian's looks like it'd fit the bill.

Had some time this morning to work on a table tie down system here what I came up with.
My plan is to almost always leave are table in the set up position.So I wanted something that I could leave attached both well driving and well the trailer is being occupied .They are easily removable if I decided to take the table down. Now the springs are probably on the larger then needed size but there where what I had laying around in my work shop. I used some 1/8" stainless steal aircraft cable that I also had left over from one my other projects. So the only thing I had to buy was the s- hook and I bolts I think the total cost $4.50 dollars.

Ingenious. Secures all the parts yet allows the table top to be slid back and forth if desired (ours will have a separate lock for that.) Bravo and well done!

Nice :} Just goes to show more then one way to skin a cat.. I like mine since I can also secure stuff under the table with the cleats. Though, might do that one too so if I am not needing to put anything under the table I can just use that and not fool with it.

No need to shave your legs to sit at are table There are no sharp edges to cut or scratch some legs and the cable is fine braided so it will not pull someone hair. Really I am not pulling your leg.

Nicely done. Being able to sit at the table, while stopping for lunch etc. without having to undo anything seems like the best way to go. Aways nice to be able to use miscellaneous resource materials, what my wife calls my junk, for projects.

table mod

One of my more successful modifications was to add a horizontal brace to the front table leg. I used aluminum square tubing with a "U" bolt and wingnuts to secure it to the leg. The brace is attached on both sides to the trim piece under the seat cushion. I used two screws to mount a gudgeon from a Hobie Cat sailboat to the trim, and then used ball lock pins, also known as quick pins, to hold the brace in place. To lower the table, all that is necessary is to pull the two quick pins and loosen the wingnuts.

The table is very solid now. It does not move at all and does not touch the front wall. It is also easier to slide it back and forth because the legs are secure. You lose a small amount of leg room, but for two people, the brace is not noticeable. My wife likes to use the brace as a footrest.

Slomoto, nice job! I recently added a 12" shelf under the table in my 19' and it is captivated by the table leg. The shelf also stabilizes the table. Iit is a great place to stash things like laptop or tablets, cables, books etc. We put two plastic shoe boxes on the shelf and keep our stuff inside.

Slomoto, nice job! I recently added a 12" shelf under the table in my 19' and it is captivated by the table leg. The shelf also stabilizes the table. Iit is a great place to stash things like laptop or tablets, cables, books etc. We put two plastic shoe boxes on the shelf and keep our stuff inside.

I was thinking of doing something similar Steve, but adding shelves under to store stuff in. Do you think having it the depth of this shelf would interfere with 4 people sitting at the dinette? I had been thinking of making in a bit narrower, but like the added stability for the leg. Maybe I will try up against the leg, with some kinda clamp like slomoto did. Basically a combo of both your ideas, with my own twist thrown in.

Jim, when my wife and I are the only ones using the table we don't even know the 12" shelf is there. If we were going to seat 4 people at the table from time to time I would have cut the shelf to be contained by the table leg but not running through it. It would be 8"-9" wide, contained on all sides and would not need to be fastened to anything. Maybe a felt piece attached to the shelf where it impacts the table leg. That way you can just lift it out of the way when 4 people want to sit down.
