Here is a payload summary now that we have the truck and have added some accessories:
For reference, our tow vehicle is:
- 2024 F150 4x4 Lariat 501A
- SuperCrew with 145” wheelbase and 5.5’ bed
- 3.5L V6 Ecoboost
- Factory options: Tow/Haul Package and Power Folding/Telescoping Mirrors
The truck capacity per the driver door decal is:
- GVWR 7,100 lbs
- GCWR 16,800 lbs
- Payload 1,790 lbs
I used a public scale to get the following weight values. These were all with a full tank of gas and a 190 lb. driver.
The initial scale weight for the truck was
5,400 lbs.
I then added the following items:
- B&W TurnoverBall Gooseneck Hitch
- Andersen Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection with Anti-Slip Rubber Mat
- WeatherTech NoDrill Mud Flaps (set of 4)
- Husky X-act Contour Floor Mats (front and rear)
- These items in total added 140 lbs with a new scale weight of 5,540 lbs.
I also added:
- Rhino eXtreme Spray Lining
- This added 60 lbs with a new scale weight of 5,600 lbs.
- All these additions used 200 lbs of available payload.
By my calculations (using the Escape empty pin weight of 650 lbs), we will be at 1,180 lbs payload with a driver and passenger, our added accessories, and the empty Escape 5.0. This leaves ~600 lbs maximum for all additional truck cargo or trailer weight resting on the gooseneck hitch.
I will get some additional scale weights once we are actually towing (both loaded and unloaded). However, it appears that 1,790 lbs payload will be workable for our anticipated camping style.
I appreciate the help and input from this group. I hope this information will be useful to someone else.
