Escape extended warranty

I don't buy an extended warranty on anything. The house holds the cards and obviously makes money because the odds are in their favour.
 
Supposedly you can get a refund if you do not use it, nice feature, sort of like insurance with CSV...
 
Let me try again..... anyone know if it covers window leaks and window Delam?
 
Bummer, it covers products not made by Escape. Was hoping windows would be included since they don't make those either.
 
Well considering the current events we're all dealing with, perhaps this extended warranty may prove of some value, at least for peace of mind in certain circumstances.

ETI offers a 2 year warranty out the gate on their line of new trailers. My wife and I will be picking up our new 2020 21NE (hopefully) in early May. The warranty clock starts ticking the moment we complete the purchase - and would expire May 2022.

Based on todays world estimates, it's highly unlikely there will be much, if any opportunity to enjoy our trailer until spring 2021. Thus we've lost a year of coverage.

This situation most certainly isn't ETI's fault, but that's neither here nor there. Parked or mobile, our new trailer will be 1 year older, with 1 year of warranty left.

Presuming the rate quoted of "less than $4500" is for coverage out to spring 2025 ($1500/year), it would certainly be a major consideration to extend our warranty out to either May 2023 or May 2024. Yes...$1500 is $1500...but peace of mind has a price. Like any insurance, that's what we pay for - that peace of mind.

Like GBAGLO, I too am loath to pay for 'extended warranty'. $4500 would most likely pay for any repair you may require in the first 5 years...BUT...that first 2 years of normal warranty coverage is most likely going to be just good for 1 year realistically.

It's a decision probably many of us will want to make...just a wee bit of supplementary peace of mind, in a world gone off the rails. Lets just hope the full 2 year warranty isn't lost due to some new disease being brewed today in the worlds 'wet markets of exotic eats'.
 
ETI guarantees the trailer to be made of fibreglass for two years. It doesn't cover the appliances. Those are covered by their manufacturer's warranty.
Good luck finding any reason to use your ETI warranty.

As for the appliances, things do go wrong and are covered by the manufacturer.

I'd find it extremely difficult to come up with $1,500 in claims in a year.

I've read the warranty several times since researching, contemplating, signing and now waiting for our decision to materialize...and yes I was aware of the limitations.

Your reply reminded me :banghead: that the appliances are covered by the various manufacturers. I totally forgot that very broad brush. $1500 or $4500 or anything in between - the appliances will most likely be out of warranty by the time we're on the road, shakedown cruises or not.

Valid point...you can buy a lot of repairs and/or adjustments (which I'd most likely do unless it was out of my skill set and comfort zone).
 
I've had my 17B since July 2008.

When I got it, I noticed a cupboard hinge wasn't quite level. I should have mentioned it, and ETI would have fixed it.
The furnace started to squeal about 2009. I took it to North Shore RV, an authorized service centre, and they replaced the motor, under warranty.
I replaced the tires in 2016 ( I think ). Not covered by warranty. I had bearings and brake services every year or so. Also not covered. Normal maintenance.

Couple years ago, I figured I should have the fridge serviced. According to the manual, it should be done once a year. That cost me about $500, partly because I didn't want to take the trailer in for service. They came to me.

My grey tank started leaking at the outlet. Took it to ETI to fix it properly after I attempted to smear caulk around the area ( which Reace had told me wouldn't fix the problem ).
So, that's my twelve years of issues with ownership.

Oh ya. ETI also found the problem with the Maxxfan and exterior light, which was a corroded wire ( ten years after I got the trailer ). I had them check all the window caulk etc and replace at the same time. Cost me about $300.

Propane regulator replaced-ETI warranty
Replaced tires 2020 no warranty covers
Lubed bearings twice no coverage there
Replaced Propane detector at 4 years no warranty and any deductible would end that anyhow
Replaced plastic door hold open at 3 years - no warranty claim there
New battery cables at 4 years warranties won’t cover with any deductible
Nothing else has occurred except mods and washing/waxing
Extended warranty would have wasted a lot of $$ on this trailer
 
This is one of those items like financing that we can now offer. It really is a choice. Some people always buy extended warranty, some never buy it. We figured we'd give the option and let customers decide for themselves. It is principally a Mechanical and Electrical warranty. samuel@escapetrailer.com has all the info.

2005 17B - Reace fixed the thermostat for free in 2010 while at the first rally

2012 5.0 SA Picked up in Apr the fridge froze everything on AC practically from day one so ran it on propane, pulled into Escape on the way to the rally they pulled out the fridge and replaced it with a new one while I waited and sent me on my way. No other problems other than general maintenance.
