The Hawk
Hey Leon, I’ve spent some time in Chicago in the winter too and you are right, the wind is impressive.
We had snow last night (5 inches) and the Hawk is about this afternoon with wind chill at 0F.
The Pikes Peak Rally At McGregor Iowa was organized by Corky and Darlene. It’s at Pikes Peak State Park high up in the hills. This campground will not
Flood. Heck, the glaciers didn’t even get up there. It’s in the driftless area. This next year it
Will be called the Pink Elephant Rally because of a long time landmark (a Pink Elephant) located nearby. The shelter is close and walkable. It’s already reserved next May 7-10. Price of camping was $16.00 a night last spring, electric and showers, water fill sites in the CG and a dump station. No daily Park entry fee at this time. Some great birds, nearby trout fishing opportunities, fire rings at every site and finally good people.

I grew up in North Dakota. But the coldest winters were the ones in Chicago with the wind blowing off the lake.
