Escape rally 2025

Hello Donna and Ron and everybody else.
OK. Problem solved. The park had around forty sites available.Booked # 28.Pretty close to the club house.
Will not take part in any food event, but will still be able to visit for seminars and such.Way to go when one is sort of out of the picture. Was hesitating this year because of my awning problems, my brain got pre occupied with that. But all is good, had mail today from my man Jamie at Escape support. He has located a motor that will fit my trailer out of Dometic in Indiana. The guy goes out of his way.He had one lined up in Florida but the company would not sell to him because he did not have an account. he has spent a lot of time trying to solve this situation. So, pretty soon I will be hauling my trailer out to Chilliwack and get the motor installed, awning backin place and fine tuned. Now i can start bragging about Escape again.
Wow, I will be one happy camper.
Happy traile everybody.
Allan.

That's great, I thought that might be the case, there's two types of fully booked.

I'm betting that, first of all, there will be some folks that don't show up and secondly, if you have a chat with Samuel, he'll say come and have some food. I don't think that you'll end up feeling left out.

Ron

Yes, Jamie has been quite helpful to me also. Glad that worked out.

Heck, as one of the more senior forum and Escape owners you should be a guest of honor at the rally. You could regale them with what going out to ETI used to be like, one step away from building in a chicken coop. :)

Hello Wanderbred.
Thanks for letting me know.I did find a spot# # 28 that is not part of the Escape Rally.
Will not partake in any food venues but can still go to the seminars and just hang around.
Appreciate your posting.Take and Happy Trails to you.
Allan in North Vancouver.

have spot at Nk'Mip #325, arriving Wed 5/21, departing Sun 5/24. looking forward to it.

have insurance questions:

(1) found out today my auto insurance AAA doesn't cover trips into Canada. what to do?

(2) health insurance, wife says covered by Medicare supplemental, no worries. that sound correct?

all replies and comments welcomed, cheers

Just FYI ....

'Supplemental' and / or 'Medicare Advantage' plans may offer some coverages when traveling in Canada - IMO it's best to contact your plan provider to get an explicit understanding in that regard. FYI / for example, this from my Medicare Advantage Plan:

Our plan covers worldwide emergency and urgently needed services outside the United States under the following circumstances: emergency services, including emergency or urgently needed care and emergency ambulance transportation from the scene of an emergency to the nearest medical treatment facility. Transportation back to the United States from another country is not covered. Pre-scheduled, pre-planned treatments (including dialysis for an ongoing condition) and/ or elective procedures are not covered.

There's also 3rd-party options for travel medical insurance specifically for seniors traveling in Canada ...
Google search : senior medical coverage for travel in canada
_________

Separate from medical coverage, there's the issue of 'repatriation' (transport to your home area from a location distant from your home) if, heaven forbid, you're seriously injured and require hospitalization. It's rare for any medical insurance to cover repatriation, Medjet is one alternative among many for addressing that situation. Thankfully I've never needed the service but as a solo-traveler with all of my family / support systems located in my home area I've found comfort in subscribing to Medjet. I view it as a way to reduce burdens for both me and my family if something really bad happens. YMMV.

Depends if a person is just coming into Canada for the rally or not. If so, it's only a few minutes drive back to Oroville in the US if urgent medical care is needed and the person doesn't have a plan that covers them in Canada.

hello Centex, thanks for reply, good info.

I did call AAA again, and now they say I'm covered driving in Canada, I think that's correct. searching on web, I found generally US auto insurance provides same coverage in Canada, cheers.

I was going to say. We contacted AAA when I read the post and they said we were covered.

stuck in Gillette WY, 90 to Buffalo closed to all campers < 20,000#, extreme blowover risk.

been here since early afternoon Thu May 15, anybody else in this situation?

took alternate route 59 from Douglas to Gillette or still be in Douglas. 59 was probably as bad as 90, was windy, but nothing too scary.

IMO WY has over reacted, but maybe not? there's an alternate route to Billings via 14 may take, same conditions, but road not closed.

I'm at Green Tree's Crazy Women Campground. nice but $45 cash per night is wrecking my budget. need to find ATM lols.

if I can get to Buffalo appears OK to continue trip.

ticket for travel on restricted road $750, that's in addition to damage from rollover haha.

all comments, suggestions welcome, cheers

Looks like you’ll be able to make a break for it today. The slow moving cold front is moving out. We’ve been in wind and rain here in eastern Idaho since Tuesday. Another storm front moving through on Sunday. Who would have thought north of the Canadian border would be warmer and sunnier than Idaho.

thanks for reply, very nice to get report from fellow traveler.

today, I'm going to try alternate route 14 to Billings MT. 90 between Gillette and Buffalo still closed to campers this morning. cheers

I see Alaska Rally after this one, I'm looking around, don't see any threads or details anywhere.

I know too late for me this year, but would like more info? I'll ask around at Osoyoos too. cheers

using US cell phone while in BC?

wife tells me to put phone on airplane mode to avoid expensive charges. that should be able to to text, search web if wifi available.

I guess maybe wifi available at Nk'Mip RV Park?

any comments welcome, cheers

Yes, wi-fi is available. Check your phone provider. Roaming packages have changed and seem to be much more reasonable now. The border isn't far away, you could always duck down and make some calls.

Ron

An email was sent out yesterday by Escape with a pre notification to The Escape club members. The 2025 rally is on for 5/22/2025 - 05/25/2025 at NK'MIP RV PARK in Osoyoos BC. You can make your reservations now just tell the park you are part of the Escape rally.
This will be my first time doing something like this. I’m in site 43. What goes on at these events? Do I need to register somewhere? Escape 19.
